Wow, really?
It's a sad reality. Learned my lesson at the Liberty Bowl. If the U wants to sell tickets, acquire the seats in which people actually want to sit.
1. The university gets no say in the seats given to them by the bowl game.
2. There are a lot less people going to a bowl game in Dallas than one in our home stadium.
3. The university allocates bowl tickets based on tiger scholarship points and level. So fans who actually donate to the university get better seats.
4. Not buying tickets from the university takes money directly from the bowl payout.
People wonder why we didn’t get into the big 12, but they aren’t willing to support the university in the smallest way.
None of this is we we got passed over again. Look at Houston and their home attendance.
Geographically, adding Memphis to the B12 right in the heart of SEC country would make all kinds of sense.
It was market size, POLITICS, a little good old fashioned racism, and again, POLITICS.
Note: When you look at a large sample size of people and their buying pattern / behavior as to the reason they deploy their disposable income one way or the other - lack of spending on a product is NEVER the customer's fault. Never.
Houston has $12M more in athletic revenue and 4x the endowment of the university of Memphis. Sounds like they support the university even if they don’t actually go to the game.
Our fan support collapses at a little hardship, like the people who don’t want an on campus stadium because the can’t park right next to it.
Supporting the university isn’t a supply and demand equation. You support the university because you want the university to do better in the long run. If Memphis has a reputation for selling their allotment and traveling well then they will end up in better bowls and that money goes directly into the payout. Buying directly from the university helps in multiple ways. Hell, I’ve bought tickets to bowl games I ended up not even going to.
If all you care about is where you sit and you don’t care about actually supporting the university then buy on stub hub. Maybe you can get a stub hub hoodie to wear to the game to show your support.

I had season tickets to football and basketball and was a TSF donor. My LB tickets sucked in a big way. Like row 75 in the corner on the visiting side one row from the last row.
Mine were fine.
And you all know the liberty bowl game was different than a game in Dallas. All the Memphis season ticket holders wanted to go to to the game, and for many of them their normal seats were already sold through the LB office.

I’ve gotten burned numerous times by the university. And I know many others that have as well.
Me too, but the ticketing process for this bowl looks a lot more transparent than previous bowls. Previous bowls we only got 1 maybe 2 price options with no map of where they might be. This one has multiple price options with a seating chart for each one clearly published.

RE: First Responder Bowl
If you are coming to the Bowl Game, I have some tickets to Six Flags Over Texas. I cannot sell them due to my contract with the park but....they do allow me to trade or barter them. Not sure if there are any takers for that kind of situation but...if you are interested....PM me and we can discuss the trade option. The park is open in December for Holiday In The Park. So, the dates around the game are dates when the park is open. I also have EPIC WATERS, the large indoor water park in Grand Prairie (half way between Dallas and Fort Worth) tickets available on the same basis.

The $40 they will save on this game can go towards funding $200 million for an OCS. Everyone is waiting for that.

Mine sucked as well .... 2nd row from the top .... Normally I sit on Row 28 around the 15 yard line .... Season Ticket holder since the late 1980's .... After that I bought where I wanted to sit for the Cotton Bowl ....

RE: First Responder Bowl
1. Give something to the scholarship fund and buy cheap tickets online ... OR
2. Buy your tickets through the University ... Then sit where you want.
If you don't want to be chastised by the dogooders on this forum ... Just do what you want ... And be quite about it. Jesus !!

RE: First Responder Bowl
My philosophy has always been give when you are ready & able to give. But sit where you want at bowl games. If the school allotment has decent seats that are just as good as the ones online, then buy from the school. But don't martyr yourself just to buy from the school. If you want 50-yard line seats, buy them online.
At SMU stadium, I imagine the school's allotment is just as good as any.

Why are y'all complaining?
o never mind
If our fans cannot have a good time in Dallas they need to remember the Cotton Bowl. Same place, just another venue. Enjoy the moment.
I think you should invite them all out to Sneaky Peets for drinks.

Same here, longtime season ticket holder in FB/MBB, TSF donor etc. My LB tickets against ISU were 46 rows up on the visitor side (I think we were the visitors) on about the 35 yd line. In contrast our Cotton Bowl seats were about 30 rows up on our side at about the 45 yd line. Bhm Bowl less than great seats too, about 20 yd line. I've never been able to figure the logic even though I understand the seats are suppose to correspond to your level of giving.
