A lot of people would think FAU, because they had a lot of success as well, but we actually handled them pretty regularly. It was Western Kentucky that gave us fits.

FAU only felt dangerous under Joey Freshwater. They were pretty mediocre otherwise.

I would like to think we can give USA a good game. Hopefully our NFL/Transfer Portal hopefuls still play in the game like they did last year against App. Even if they don't, we have decent depth at most positions. I'll be there with my family. Hope for a fun, injury free contest.

This USA fan thinks WKU can give us a good game. I was doing some digging around this morning and WKU is going to be a difficult out for the Jags. Our defense is going to have to slow down your offense, and the Jags have to hope our RB Webb is healthy. He played against ODU but he wasn't 100% When he's fully healthy he's very difficult to bring down. Massey's predictor gives WKU a 59% chance to win. Sagarin's odds are USA at 52%. I ran the numbers in my own personal computer program and it showed a 4-point win for USA. Unless there's something strange like a flu outbreak or something on one team, I look for it to be a close back and forth game.

Not too surprising. Live by the portal, die by the portal. Last year with Zappe we had Kittley at OC and he was given free reign more or less.

This year Helton seemed to hamstring our offense frequently. Barely used the middle of the field in the passing game.

EDIT: Also, last year we had players declare for the NFL and Portal and still play in the bowl game. Hopefully that is the case this year too.

Yikes. This stinks for the Hilltopper fans and it stinks for us because I want to play WKU at full strength. Hopefully USA doesn’t have any transfer portal news like this.

Don’t think he’s going anywhere this year. Or Sumrall. Next year is a different story if we win 9+

RE: USA vs. WKU in the New Orleans Bowl
For those that have been to the NOLA Bowl, do the number below look accurate? How well did the Sun Belt teams travel?

2017 - 24,904 (Troy)
2018 - 23,942 (Appalachian St)
2019 - 21,202 (Appalachian St)
2020 - 3,000 covid
2021 - 21,642 (Louisiana)

South should bring a big crowd (allotment is 5,200) No idea how many WKU fans will make the trip being a Wednesday night.

It is close enough to the Holidays that most should be able to get off from work if they are interested in going. I will be there with the wife and kids in tow. I have been to most of our bowl games and we usually bring a decent amount depending on the distance. I would guess in the 3-5k range.

They want to get out of CUSA as soon as possible just like everybody else.

That, and he wins the prize for the quickest post of sorry ass reasons why they probably lose.

Losing most all your starters pretty much ends the chances of winning a game, no need to be a ass, we know the odd of a WKU win Will be slim to none

Yes, I would think Sumrall would be gone before Wommack.

Any update from WKU fans on whether or not Austin Reed would still play? I’ve heard despite him entering the portal he would still play in the bowl game.

So far it sounds like he intends to play. We had at least one player do the same last year. Coaching staff has been progressive about the portal so far, so I don't think they will hold it against any of the guys who are testing the waters.

Deserter? Baloney.

2021- WKU 59-38.

2022- another decisive victory.

Nice. After the win, one of your first considered acts is to come to the Sun Belt board in the wee hours of the morning and reply on a weeks-old, fact-based, dormant post that irked you.

Congrats, you have been nominated for the Sun Belt BBS "Most Likely To Boil A Bunny" award.

USA brought a big group of fans and WKU brought a pretty good crowd considering the travel. Unfortunately no one else showed up
