Chadwell's deal is 5+ years at $4M a year. Team meeting called for later this morning. Chadwell has gone 39-22 at Coastal in 4 seasons with a conference title.

There is a press conference set for 3PM. Football scoop is saying 5 year deal at 4 million a year.

EDIT: Thamel is saying is a 7 year deal with average of 4 million a year.

One G5 conference's best coach leaves to go to another G5, interesting.

A win for CUSA and a loss for the Sun Belt.

Coastal 9-3 is deceiving, Coastal has the weakest FBS schedule and they are at best a 7-5 team in any other conference with a decent schedule.

I said after I watched Troy play WKU that Troy was the best team in the Sunbelt (go look it up)

Troy literally dominated Coastal, it was 31-0 when I quit watching.

South Alabama was better than Coastal and would have dominated Coastal. Coastal got manhandled by ODU and JMU. If Coastal would have played a CUSA schedule they would have been 7-5

Chadwell has had a good run at Coastal but that was the Sunbelt Conference he was coaching against.


Look at Chad Brown dominated the Sunbelt but hasn’t been able to even put together a winning season at WVU and probably will be fired

Hugh Freeze won at the highest level of college football… big difference between that and what Chadwell has done

He should be giving Grayson McCall 3.25 of that 4 million....

he's a $750,000 coach, at best, without Grayson McCall. Hiring a G5 coach that hasn't shown he can win with a different qb is just as big of a gamble as hiring a OC that hasn't proved he cab "coach" a program and not just one side of the ball.

You dont get to compete in a significantly weaker conference making substantially more money that often.

Just look at the "super strong" SBC East about as weak as FBS football can get.

I should add, it appears coaches consider CUSA a step up.

Chadwell took Charleston Southern and made them a real threat in the FCS. The guy can coach, period. I’d be stocked if he was coming to the Boro. I think he will do well for Liberty.

Not true. The Troy game was like the Liberty/NMSU game in that both coaches were openly reported leaving their current teams. The quality and intensity of the players reflects that. Chadwell is the best fit for LU. His age, experience and upside with several quality wins makes his desirable. He does have quality wins. Leaving with CCU at this time was the right call with the QB departing. If not Chadwell, who would have been a better hire?

That's true, but how much of that was because Chadwell was distracted by other offers the last 2 weeks? We saw that happen to Liberty when Freeze flirted around the last 3 weeks, they lost all 3 games.
