We turned it over a lot. That's the least coaching aspect of the game. Some clock management and play calling was the reason for some of the situations. He is partly to blame for the Ls! Candle also put a good gamelan in for Ohio and EMU to achieve this goal. He's responsible for those big wins too.

Dealing with a QB injury led Ohio to 1-1 and Coastal Carolina to 0-2. So we see that can hurt very good teams. He couldn't change the depth and talent of the Oline after Fall Camp. A credible criticism of our program... But his game plan with Healthy Finn hides some of that ineptitude. I see why we weren't efficient vs. Ball State, SDSU, BG, or WMU with 2 not even 80% QBs. At the very least it's cool we had depth to not be embarrassed without QB1.

The decision to hold out Finn vs. WMU was a worthy trade off. Candle survived the ups and downs. Happy I was there to see it!

The OL has been bad for some time. He had plenty of opportunities to bring in a new coach, but wouldn't fire his buddy. There is a Blade article today praising the OL coach for the performance yesterday. True, the running game was better, but claiming that Hallett has been "vindicated" is absurd as he has overseen the destruction of a long-time dominant position group of UT football. To say that 90 tackles for loss this season or an uncountable number of offside penalties and bad snaps is progress is absurd.

We're lucky our quarterbacks had only minor injuries after the pounding they took. For Kyle Rowland to give Hallett a megaphone to tout his brilliance after ten tackles for loss yesterday, is certainly not deserved.

OL issues since 2017. 34-0 shutout by App St should have opened some eyes.

Note to Blade reporters, Coach Candle, staff, and players: The vocal fans on this board do represent Toledo football fans in general. While we deeply appreciate the excellent product that our program puts on the field year in and year out, we will continue to hold the program to a higher standard than the rest of the conference. As evidenced by the fact that we led the conference in attendance, we will continue to support the program. We sincerely hope Jason Candle looks to move elsewhere in the coaching ranks and wish him the best of luck.

Excellent correction.

Some of these out of the woodwork, never here posters, their only recourse is to use words like "blow-hards" and "idiots" when confronted by facts. They'd rather put their degrees under the microscope than a highly paid football coach, whose job by definition is subject to fanbase critique. I wonder who organized them?

I think Candle can change some minds if Toledo comes out in the bowl game and plays well, with minimal penalties and gets yardage running the ball, and we see either Finn or Gleason hitting receivers with some nice throws. Also, since Liberty has been prolific with sacking the QB this year, not giving up any sacks - - or at least not more than 2 while not having Finn running for his life on every pass play - will also give some positive light going into 2023.

Apart from that, can't lose guys to the portal that are important to the future.

OL will not be as inexperienced next year. Have potentially 20 of 22 OL on the roster coming back. That assumes Ocasio gets another year, and includes Devan Rogers staying at C vs. moving back to the DL. Knock that down by one more since Lavel Dumont has entered the portal.
