The Washtenaw County Screwjob
How do we not have a thread here about this? The Washtenaw County prosecutor, Eli Savit, is the Go Blue prosecutor. Not only does he have his JD from UM, but he also WORKS there (teaches adjunct) and is a huge UM fanboi all over social media. Dude bleeds maize and blue, but he went to undergrad at K. I digress.

Anyway, Savit didn't even hesitate to overcharge the MSU football players involved in the infamous fight in the Michigan Stadium tunnel. Not only did he not hesitate to overcharge these players (only the felony charge is warranted IMO), Savit didn't even think for a second that there were any sort of ethical issues with his connections to UM and prosecuting the players from the in-state rival.

All because the University of Michigan is too arrogant and lazy to hire enough security guards and ensure proper security to prevent players from mingling in the tunnel after games. A big enough problem that they allegedly knew about it after the OSU game last year and had James Franklin broadcast it to the world a week before the MSU game. How hard is this? And no reprimand whatsoever for UM.

This is really, really disturbing and casts serious doubt on the justice system not only in Washtenaw County but in Michigan as a whole. Savit should have recused both himself and his office from working this case and should have let one of the surrounding counties work this case.

To demonstrate how underhanded these charges are, they announced them at 2 pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, ensuring that not a single reporter anywhere would write about this case in any sort of analytical way until after the four day weekend. Of course, the Detroit media outlets aren't going to touch this with with a 10 foot pole unless they're just stenographing charges and the news.

This is an absolute travesty of justice and everyone in Michigan should be absolutely appalled that Eli Savit is allowed to behave like this. He should be disbarred.

Bored eh?

We should defund the police so that MSU players no longer suffer unjust persecution.

Inaccurate, but whatever.

Only in America would people cry about MSU suspensions instead of assigning blame.

You've barely tried to hide it for years. Might as well just own it.

Both schools are disgusting and had to pay hundreds of millions in coverup fines. Neither should receive 1 dime from taxpayers.

Add this one to the list of screw jobs. Star Defensive lineman Mazi Smith is facing a felony charge from a Oct 7th incident. OCTOBER SEVENTH. This was announced WEDNESDAY, November 30th. At any other school the kid would have been arraigned the following day and suspended indefinitely. Details of the incident or why it took nearly 2 months to file the charges were not immediately available. DUH, Jeem needed the dude to beat OSU. Can't suspend him yet! Team should be DQ'd. LEADERS AND THE BEST.

This also comes out the morning after all UM media availability is finished ahead of the Big Ten championship game.

Remember when Emoni Bates was arrested on 2 gun charges? He was arranged the next day!

Was he also drunk and driving the ADs car? That’s not a crime in Ann Arbor if you are an athlete.

Your post is very thought-provoking sir! Thanks for the presentation. By the way, I live one mile from the Big House.
