It sucks that the game is before christmas. I have been able to attend the last 2-3 bowls as they have all been after christmas /new years. Plus I'm not a huge fan of cold weather bowls.

Gotta agree. Based on location, this is one of the few bowl games I can affordably travel to.

The weekend before Christmas makes it a no-go however. Would've much rather preferred sometime during the week between Christmas and New Years.

CBS Sports - bowl projections. Could be a guess on their part, but has UC vs UofL in the Military. I hope so, I'm only an hour away.

I am pretty sure that UC will be in the Fenway Bowl based on what was covered in the BCJ podcast this week

I don't think it is official until the ESPN Bowl show. Is that today as part of the playoff announcement?

RE: Fenway Wasbi bowl.. Cincinnati vs Louisville
I like the opponent.

I HATE the setting (i.e. a Baseball stadium, in New England).
I HATE the time (i.e. a week before Christmas).

Over on the "Conference Realignment" board, someone was talking about the Detroit Bowl (known by many names over the years). In theory, it should be a pretty good game, matching a Big Ten and a MAC team. Ford Field is a nice venue, and it's indoors...which means climate control and comfort. It's relatively centrally located for both the B10 and the MAC, which usually means ease of travel. But beyond the theory, this game has always been an underachiever. Why? Not in the least because a "Bowl" game implies a whole experience, not just a game. A "Bowl" usually carries with it the idea of bands and pep rallies and multiple days spent in a location; a vacation around a game. But the Detroit-"Quicklane Bowl" is a "drive in" game: you drive INTO Detroit, watch the game, then drive back out again (as quickly as possible). That's the NFL model: NFL stadiums are not usually situated in walkable places, they are centered on the "Drive in-watch game-drive out."

Baseball, at least, carries with it a "Neighborhood" experience. Fenway, Wrigley, Yankee Stadiums (among others) are at least in a neighborhood where there are taverns and restaurants to mingle and enjoy before and after the game. But Baseball is a SUMMER sport: who wants to linger in Wrigleyville in December? And the Baseball Parks are made for Baseball; Fenway is not meant to watch football. The field will be wedged in there all weird and it will be unpleasant to try and watch. (And Fenway, as an older park, has lots of "obstructed seats" behind pillars and columns.) When Illinois played Northwestern up at Wrigley, they could only go "one way" because of the brick wall in Left Field--it was too dangerous to have the chance of some player running out of the endzone and into the wall, so the Offense had to go away from the wall. Awkward, to say the least, and it totally broke up the flow of the game because at each change of possession they had to "flip" the field.

I hate these Bowl games with a passion. I'll watch, but I still hate it.

We now have a coach. One HC to guide both teams. I predict the final score will be 13 to 13.

A problem with this bowl is if a few people in Massachusetts come down with flu like symptoms, they will likely cancel the game again.

Coach Satt just said he wont be a part of the bowl game for either team.

I don't think I like that.

As of now he is UC's HC. So I think he should be there in some capacity.

I get it that it is a weird and awkward situation.

But as the UC HC he should be thee.

I get what you're saying, but I disagree. I think it speaks to his character and sets an example for the current team that he respects the individual players too much to turn on them and coach against them a week after being their coach. If he coached against them I think it creates hate on the other sideline and sends the wrong message to our team that he would be willing to flip on them so quickly.

I'm fine with it. I'd rather him be pounding the recruiting trail, making sure current players are feeling good about staying with the program, building out his staff, figuring out what gaps exist on the current roster, and scouring the transfer portal. I think he's got plenty to keep himself busy.

I don't disagree with anything you said.

You made great points.

I have mixed feelings, but initially tend to feel he should work for his current employer.
