RE: Dilfer's Contract??
It isn’t complete yet.

Gonna guess it is 5 years and less than Clark but with good incentive and some commitment from UAB in terms of staff and support.

This is what I was thinking. Charlotte kind of set the tone for how this round is going to be. Coach with lower salary to allow for a larger assistant pool. Biff is getting $1M with (IIRC) $2.15M for assistants. I hope we're a bit higher than that.

How much was Clark making in his last year? Dilfer may have made as much money as Clark coaching high school.

Makes sense. He did say that he had a "golden parachute" from ESPN.

RE: Dilfer's Contract??
As for Dilfer's alleged $1.2 salary from Lipscomb, I am guessing that is not accurate. The original source for that, I think, was a blog from Clay Travis' Outkick site, and it said something along the lines that he was paid that amount "just for coaching football," which may or may not have been from Lipscomb only. (It could have been from his Elite 11 camps, etc.)

The blog post that is circulating from the dad of a player at Lipscomb refutes that figure completely. "No. Trent wasn’t paid anywhere near $1.2 million a year." (https://brenthigh.wordpress.com/2022/11/...nt-dilfer/)

I know that elite private schools like that might have lots of money--one of my sons-in-law is a graduate of Lipscomb HS and it's always been a big $$ school--but I think everyone felt that was an outrageous salary for a high school coach--and probably because it is not true.

RE: Dilfer's Contract??
Sorry, I just meant his total revenue while being a high school coach. I assume it includes external things he does that I’m not sure he’ll have as much time or ability to do as a D1 head coach. So there’s opportunity cost for him potentially in taking this role.

Yes. Coach Dilfer whispered directly into my left year some of his picks (honestly, a little breathy and moist for my comfort level)...but I promised not to whisper it to anybody else.

If you look back at the original post, it says that some of that figure was poured back into the program for equipment, etc. I suspect that the figure is more reflective of the investment he required the school to put into football.
