The women head east to play VCU tonight at the Siegal Center. I spent many years on a Crown Club bus going to Richmond for the game. Good memories....except for the horrid VCU Pep Band....

Per the DNR yesterday Caroline will be back and ready to play tonight. That's great news for the Dukes although Jamia and Chloe have done a very good job running the point in her absence.

VCU has a 3-4 record, losing to Delaware and W&M but also beating Seton Hall and Wisconsin. It looks like they are very much like JMU in that it depends on which team shows up for any given game.

Game is at 6 p.m. and will be shown on MASN and ESPN+.

Why not hold ball for last shot? She made both shots, but they have ball with 21.5 and a chance to make a 3 and win. Foul them, put them on the line for 2 and remove the 3 point or 3 point play option. That foul was a weak call.

Dukes eek out a 62-60 win despite being out rebounded by 20 (yikes!!) and some poor free throw shooting. 10 in a row against the Rams. Nice to see the two teams playing again.

Rocky start, terrible FT shooting, and so-so shooting, but a solid win on the road. Very happy to see that Germond was on the court and not showing any signs of her injury. We need her steady hand at PG.

Still don’t understand the Offense. There is no flow, just dribble and drive.

Been that way for 3 years. It’s a far cry from the KB teams.

I agree. Certainly was the case in the first half. There was much better ball
movement to begin the second half, and it led to the team’s resurgence. It makes it hard to ascertain whether the concepts aren’t being taught/coached, or the players just aren’t coachable. Hazell still chucking up out of control *****, but she had a great hustle play on defense getting back and blocking a breakaway layup.

Enough time has passed where I think it's safe to say it's more coaching than players. That is definitely concerning, but the team is better than they were last year. I don't think they win that game last year.
Also, Coach O has admitted that it will take some time to figure out this team due to so many pieces coming in either due to eligibility or injury. I think we'll really know how good/bad this team is by middle to end of January.
Not in panic mode by any means. Just need to give them time to figure it out.

We played a bad game and still ended up winning. The second half seemed better than the first half, which hopefully means the team was shaking off some rust from eight days out. I want to see them get out to a quicker start on Sunday to prove my assumption correct.

any game we can rebound from an 11 point deficit seems like a good kind of win.

I'm sure they aren't where they want to be yet, so hopefully we keep improving.

I was spoiled by Shelia and then Kenny. Really hope Sean rights this ship.

Looked to me (and I only got home in time to watch the second half) that the refs were trying to do quite a bit of home cooking. They must have been from the ASun. VCU has some decent players and looks a little more like the team I used to go watch when I lived in Richmond. We still look a bit patched together, as if Sean is trying to find just the right combination.
