Possible that our team’s spandex like shorts are constricting blood flow and movement. Although Ayesa seems to be able to shoot in his spandex.

The perennial style changes in the sport over the years always entertain.

Hi socks. Lo socks. Loose baggy. Tight. Etc. so many differences over the years

These are the things one notices when down by 40.

I get that they are P5 and we are not. But 30+ point differential, that seems excessive to what it should be

Point spread +21 and we lose by 21.....Lucky we closed it to only 21 with a horrendous 2nd half that had too many embarrassing TO's. Let us hope we see our team that beat Radford when we play Richmond on Saturday.

And our bench cuts it to a 21 pt loss. Anyone with NCST and -21 has to be screaming at the TV when they didn’t launch that open shot at the final buzzer.

Meanwhile Norfolk State is down 31 early in the 2nd half, but they’re in for a big payday at #1 Houston. Any idea how much $$$ we made for our trip down I-85?

Happy to report that Coach confirmed in post game interview that Ben was banged up in practice so he held him out in the second half for that reason.

Agreed. If so it is pissing me off. Ben’s fouling drives us all crazy at times but you do not make an example out of your hardest working player.

I apologize for jumping to a bad conclusion. Fischer said that Ben got banged a little bit in practice and they just decided not to push it. He said that Ben should be fine. Thank goodness it wasn’t some kind of punishment.

Our scrubs know that they have a chance of cracking the starting lineup whereas the State scrubs might be seeing their only meaningful minutes all year.

Well of course Fischer would say that even if it was punishment. Either way, it was a lost opportunity for Wight to get more experience against bigger, stronger P5 players.

I think Fisher would say if it was punishment, that's not an uncommon thing for a coach to say.

If Ben was at like 80-85% or so, what Fisher did makes sense to me. He was healthy enough to play, and they wanted to see if we could keep the game close. Once it was clear we weren't going to win, there was no reason to risk a chance at aggravating an injury.

Against Army in the second half and all of the game against Radford, we played with real intensity on both ends of the floor. Same in the first half against Pitt. Not yesterday. If the players can't get up for a game then the coaches need to push them. I don't think we have that on/off switch and Dane definitely doesn't. Too nice. He lost the team last year. I don't think we are there yet, but I'm going to keep an eye on it.

watching Dane v ncstate I struggled a bit to decide if I was seeing calm steady poised leadership or an a nonchalant acceptance of losing bordering on ambivalence. I think it is leadership but I can see how others perceive differently. All that matters is how this team takes it
Throwing a chair across the floor at the ref is not the only way to lead in adversity.

I appreciate calm, steady, poised leadership, but there needs to be some fire & emotion as well.

I don't want to see chairs flying, but an occasional, well timed T, in game adjustments to game situations, the team returning to the floor after half with new found emotion/energy from a halftime oration are not bad things.

Chase Lowe had some decent stats in 12 minutes: 7 points (5 from the FT line), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Meanwhile, I see that Nick Evans is on the roster but he hasn't played in any games including blowouts. Is he injured? Is he being redshirted?

Evans is a walk on. Very little experience in HS. I expect that he is a project worth taking a look at. Hicks is another walk on, but had a strong HS career. Remember that we have an additional scholarship that hasn't been awarded.

Evans is tall (I think that he is taller than Charlie) but rail thin. He is also a walk on. If he is going to remain a walk on throughout his 4 years as an undergrad and there were no plans on the part of the coaching staff to ever give him a scholarship, I could see playing him some, if he weighed a bit more, since you are not concerned about using up an eligible year. But to my eyes he just does not have a college body yet and it would be a shame to play him this year if the staff looks at him as a project who could grow into a viable scholarship big man.

With the state of our athletic budget, I wouldn't be surprised if that was a financial decision at this point.

100% money and Title IX. Same for the football scholarships.
