If you think about it, any hire in any normal year is at best, a 50-50 gamble on whether it will work out or not. This year the pool of available coaches is pretty thin, so I'd say it's even riskier than a normal year. So if we have to gamble, why not gamble big and go with someone who will get us on the front page of every paper, every sports website and every sports talk show for the next few weeks, and leading up through next season. We be looking at college game day again next year potentially, and even if we don't get a stack of five stars, at least will be in the conversation. It would guarantee that the next couple of recruiting classes would be the best or near the best in school history, and if we keep a decent set of coordinators, the in- game management concerns can be mitigated.

Now is not the time to hire a "no name" coach which will end up with lots of transfers out, and a lost recruiting class. That will make an even longer path to success, meanwhile, the UC brand and cachet, that peaked last year , will fade significantly as we take our lumps in the Big 12 until we get our footing.

Go big or go home.

Agreed. Recruiting, portal, and NIL will all be well handled by Coach Prime. And he’d bring a lot of attention, fans, and donors. Go for it. Who cares if he leaves. They all leave.

I have no idea if Coach Prime would be a good move or a bad move. But it would be entertaining and upbeat. And we could use some upbeat right now.

The lack of good alternatives also makes Coach Prime more attractive.

I think Coach Prime would bring UC a lot of publicity and a lot of new fans, which isn't a bad thing. ESPN held a gameday at Jackson State just because of Coach Prime. Who else could have gotten that kind of attention from the national sports media?

Looking at the situation from an alternative view: If the new coach turns out to be a failure i'd feel best about Prime. At least he's a gamble where we absolutely swing for the fences. Also whether he succeeds or fails, he's the mostly likely to leave a roster with a ton of high end talent for the next coach.

Bolded, but what about Deion's deal with UnderArmour for those wanting UC to be all in with Team Jordan/Nike? Should that be a deal breaker?

Those people are saying football should go to Under Armour and basketball can go to Jordan because we've apparently got the most valuable apparel property in America or something lol.
