Defense was much better. Rebounding was much better. Nice to see Gaines hit some threes.

We could’ve, and should’ve, won by 30+ if we could make layups and shots 2 feet or closer to the basket. We missed a STUPID amount of layups tonight. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. And we still won by 19 against a decent team.

Yeah, shot 40% from 3 which is outstanding for this team but only 41% overall so some lousy finishing around the rim.

I love how AK and staff are getting big on analytics. He said in the postgame he scheduled Jacksonville so we could work on playing slow tempo opponents. That will come in handy when the paint drying Mean Greenies come to town.

Chris’ math skills have been a huge impact on the program.

They were definitely a slow, methodical, Mike Davis-esque, team. No where near the level of the Mean Green though.

We didn't really get into our tempo/style of play until the end of the first half.

Great student turnout,, but doesn’t mean anything if they never make noise or lack an ounce of energy.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but it's hard to expect them to do anything until there's guidance. Auburn was the exact same way when I was a student...we'd just go to watch the game (even during the decent Lebo years) because there was nothing else to do. But then they introduced the free throw chant and people had guidance on at least one chant that got them involved (doubly impressive because this was during the Barbee era). I've had season tickets at UAB for 5 years and still have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I try to follow the cheerleader/gg chants as much as possible, but last night the UAB bench did their own "defense" chant over them and it made it tough to know who to follow. If you want people involved they have to know who to follow.

I agree with you. Years ago there was actually a Gang Green leader that would lead chants and follow the band and cheerleader chants. It looked like the smaller student section closer to the band started to have some energy but that larger section was dead. But like you said there is no leadership, how do they know what to do?
And if they cant find a Gang Green leader, then the Blazer Band needs to have a drum major lead the student section.

I’ll happily volunteer to lead Gang Green when I retire in a couple of years. I may be a bit older but I think I remember what it takes to piss off the opposing team & coach, and the ref. Just ask Nolan Richardson, Jerry Tarkanian & the VCU coach from the early 80’s. Lol

I didn’t care for the officiating last night, and this particular miss call was just ridiculous!

RE: Jacksonville Dolphins
How about the “non shooting foul” on the made basket where Ty Brewer still got 2 free throws, and we weren’t in a bonus situation.

How can no one challenge or look at such an obvious, stupid mistake?

Those refs should not be officiating.

I thought that #3 (Nolan) for them was very good. I understand that he played at Samford for a couple of seasons before ending up at Jacksonville. Did we recruit him at all coming out of high school? That may have been during Eshan’s tenure.

I was disappointed that pizza had disappeared from concessions before December arrived.

I know we expected this, but it was still disappointing.

There was pizza on my side of the concourse. I enjoyed it very much.
