I know someone who swears Deion was at Lunken yesterday. 'Tis the season.

If this thing drags out closer to the weekend without many twitter leaks of other candidates, Deion could become more plausible. He's already came out and said he's not addressing his job status until after their game this Saturday.

Not that he has any exceptional insight into UC's situation, but some interesting dark-horse candidates are discussed along with a few of the usual suspects:

I’m starting to warm up to the feeling of Urban Meyer and I hate it.

Well, we could point to Auburn and say, "Hey, at least THAT guy isn't our coach".

One of the top three college coaches of the last 20 years. Only an idiot wouldn’t want him.

Jason Williams from the enquirer stated "Urban Meyer isn’t happening, for those fans who were dreaming of that"

Tim Adams has built a strong reputation for trustworthiness, so I take this very seriously:

So who is the G5 HC of preference? Nobody I can think of thrills me, but I haven't really been looking in that direction in-depth yet.

Me too. Probably won’t happen, I’m prepared to be underwhelmed.

Jamey Chadwell

From Jamey Chadwell's wiki: In 2018, the NCAA released a detailed report concerning numerous NCAA violations across the Charleston Southern athletics department that occurred during Chadwell's tenure as head football coach. The athletics department was found to have incorrectly certified 55 student athletes across 12 sports over a six-year period, and football players were found to have used scholarship funds to purchase electronics and jewelry from the campus book store. Ultimately, the NCAA sanctions included vacating 18 wins from the 2014 and 2015 football seasons and the 2015 Big South Championship, in addition to several vacated wins in other sports. Also vacated were three wins over crosstown rival The Citadel, games during which CSU used ineligible players.

Sure that doesn't sound like it was on him as a coach as much as their compliance department, if it happened across multiple sports.

Just did a bit of research (really just looking at what G5 schools have done well) - what about Curt Cignetti at JMU? He's not young, but he's won big at every stop, and his offenses would be really fun to watch. Bill Clark, if his health is better, could be of interest as well.

I remember when Fickel came in. He was, basically, unproven and look at what he accomplished. As long as the coach can recruit, use the transfer portal and NIL to get the best players, he's worth a shot.

I wouldn't be surprised if Deion got the offer as, if I'm correct, he'd be the first person of color to be UC head coach. Not a great reason to choose him but, he can recruit and win. Just unknown if he can win at the P5 level.

I've nominated Bearcatman as the HC.

I'd have nominated myself but I have a great full head of hair and headsets muss it up. Plus, sweater vests make me look a bit "hippy."

Just bring the Bob Huggins style to the college football sideline.

I'm a quarterzip man myself...I think that disqualifies me on account of reminding many of rope being held or wood being chopped. Graphic and upsetting memories that would make any man shiver.

I'll stick to dealing with a mom who thinks her son who can't walk five steps without falling over should be getting more carries than the kid who just set the school record for rushing yards in a season....she's more reasonable than Bear Catlett and less demanding than Mark.
