When I was at the game last week, never would have guessed both coaches would be leaving a few days later!!

Hope Tulane can ride that wave and keep the momentum with a new coach.

Ga Tech job is a dead end gig. He is crazy to take that

I agree. Coaches graveyard.

That's the problem of being in the G5, you can never have nice things. Get to enjoy success for a season or maybe two if your lucky and have to start over.

If he goes the. He deserves a big “Thank You” and “Good Luck”. WF took us from roughly 125th to 18th in his tenure. The Tulane job is now a good one. WF would have been the 5th highest paid coach in the G5 next year.

However, if he goes, shut the door and get a new coach (My choice is Will Hall from USM). We don’t need a GT man coaching a Tulane team.

Let’s see what happens.

Your choice is a lowly SBC coach who had to have major ref help to beat us this year when we could literally pull any coach we wanted. Urban Meyer, Todd Monken, Paul Chryst but you want the coach from a glorified Junior College? Lol I wish our fans would realize we are big time and stop thinking this is 1996. We have the market and the academics. We can take whoever we want.

To each his own.

Who would be your choice? I do like the coach from Coastal Carolina as well.

Realistically I think Todd Monken would be a great choice. He’s already coached the area and he actually had a little success at USM which is nearly impossible. I think he would be a great fit. This also sounds crazy but hear me out, Deion Sanders. Coach Prime may not win you 8-10 games but by the time he leaves he will have your program as a national brand. He will rep Tulane all over the globe to the point where casual football fans will be wearing Tulane gear. He will leave our program in a much better place if/when he leaves. I also like Paul Chryst, I think he got a raw deal at Wisconsin and he’s a proven winner.

This will be a mistake if he takes that job. Ga Tech is an awful job.

This is weird logic. Your exiting coach that just took you from yikes to 18th just came from said SBC.

First ever CCG for Tulane and they have to deal with this crap. This will be a distraction for the Green Wave, hopefully they push through it. And GTech, really? Think he could do better.

He is age 62. He toiled a lot at the lower level. Might be his best chance at a wonderful retirement plan.

Hopefully eventual playoff expansion will help. Have to think that a coach has an easier path in at Tulane than GT. You're never keeping a coach from going to Texas or Ohio State, but should be able to fend off GT/Louisville/TCU in the new world.

I do think it will be an incredible douche maneuver if Fritz leaves before coaching a potential Cotton Bowl. Hate when coaches do that garbage.

It’s actually a perfect position for someone his age at this stage of his career.

Agree with you. If he doesn’t make it there as a coach, he still adds to his retirement. At his age, not a bad move.

Fritz will leave in a nano second if someone offers more money. IF it's a done deal, expect Tulane to look uninspired and unmotivated for the CCG.

Willie only looks after Willie

I haven't heard whether or not Tulane counter offered to try to match (or come close).

I also think Tulane should start putting out feelers for who might want the job when he leaves. Fritz, even if he doesn't go this time, is probably not retiring here.

AAC - still the place for coaches to prove themselves and then bolt for a P5 job. Sucks.

FWIW, Fritz finishing the regular season ranked in all polls at 10-2 is a sign to future coaches that you're not doomed to 4-8 at Tulane.

This is only a bad thing if Tulane makes it into one. We aren't even 100% confirmed that he's leaving (but I am already at peace that he's gone).
