What's Next for A-State
Butch Jones said in his post game comments yesterday, after another fourth quarter collapse resulting in a loss , they were going visit with every player and decide who to invite back. His comment that, "We are going to sign a lot of players," at least opens the door to their making room for some older players.
Had Butch done it this year this would not have happened.

RE: What's Next for A-State
Looking at their recruiting, and their roster compared to the other SBC teams, I do expect A-State will be a solid seven win +/-1 program going forward , that should go to a bowl game most years. Could be as soon as 2023, if Butch feels he does not have to take to many shortcuts , or compromise "the process".
In the much improved SBC, that is really not bad, and they should be able to put together a special season from time to time.

RE: What's Next for A-State
While some close to their program are confident that Butch Jones is recruiting well enough for them to become an eight win +/- 1 program, I'm not sure.
The only reasons I disagree is that he is going to build his program with HS recruits only using the Portal as a last resort and the SBC is the G5 version of the SEC.
In the Portal/NIL era he will lose players to bigger schools- especially if they have their one-time transfer still available, and that could result in them being younger than most -hopefully not as young as this year, and just like the SEC every SBC team is talented enough to beat any SBC team.
