Is that sarcasm? The hype guy again started a cheer prior to one of our plays on offense and the crowd kept going again, and the players had to wave the arms to quiet the crowd again. 03-banghead

If only the half of the crowd that basically only attends the second quarter can learn to stay for the whole thing too.

RE: Your Post Season Thoughts
my post season thoughts:

1) I picked 8-3 before the season. Right on the money. Although I have no doubt we beat Marshall with Centeio. NONE!

2) Lots of butt hurt fans in the SB regarding us. they claim it's because our fans are "arrogant" or mouthy...whatever. Reality is, they just aren't used to having many large fan bases in the SB. If you notice, almost all the fans making those comments are from eastern division schools that took a big fat L from us. Sometimes in demoralizing fashion.

Fact is, we aren't saying anything different than any other winning fan base says. They just couldn't handle an FCS program coming up and dominating them and looking so good. It was a reality check on their own program.

3) On the field, I thought the defense was a HUGE question mark coming into the season. We lost a ton off last year's team. But they were dominant, especially the front 6. losing Ukwu and Edwards stings, but 5 of the top 7 guys who played in the DL are back...Kamara will be a beast next year. Carpenter already is. then you got Kromah, Okonji and Green back. All studs. need to find 3 more guys from the roster that can step up, or add a guy through the portal, but our DL is going to be nasty again.

The two LB's are studs. And both just sophomore's this year. Two more years of Walker and Jones. wow. Fisher got some good time at the end of the year and looks to be a player. Hendrick got time early in the year and looks a player. the LB crew will be deep

4) On offense, we had playmakers everywhere. The offense could not be stopped except for a QB injury that showed we have no backup. Only Marshall and Louisville held us under 32 points. Not a coincidence those were the two games Toddy was hurt or didn't play at all. When he played and was healthy we scored.....44, 63, 32, 40, 42, 37, 42, 47. Potent !

Next year, all 5 starting OL return plus our top 2 backups return. The offense will be potent again. PAO was at another level this year. He put in the work in the offseason, and it showed. He never ran so hard and decisive as he did this year. Not sure he has the top line speed to stick in the NFL, but his play this year absolutely will earn him a shot at making a roster. Black is ready to be the main guy next year, no doubt about it. But we need some depth. Hopefully Van Horse can come back and Palmer learns to run like he did yesterday. Cig was in his ear when PAO got hurt and knew he needed Palmer to tote the ball more. Whatever he said worked. Looked like a different Latrelle. No dancing, just hit the hole and go!

A wildly successful season and Kings of the East. Sucks we can't go to a bowl, but it is what it is. takes nothing away from a great Year 1. And shows without a doubt we are going to be a force in the SB.

I was serious and missed that play. Must have been in the beer line! But it did seem better than past games - we’ll see what the fans have learned next year!

Just curious, are the same people on here that complain about butts not being in seats and the students leaving the same ones that spend 15-20 minutes once or twice a game standing in the beer line? Asking for a friend

The guy who started the J-M-U! chant? Sounded like he was in 109 and yeah, bad form, man. Someone needs to explain things to him in 278 more days.

I think the students leaving early will start to correct itself over time especially if we continue to get mentioned on almost every college football show. Kids are going to understand more how good JMU is as opposed to beating teams by 50 in the FCS and never hearing a peep on sportscenter

No, if it’s been good every week and then poor today it would be excusable, but it’s been pathetic every game. They had the same amount of staff as every other game, it’s just a very poorly run operation and needs to be fixed.
It is pathetic. I can't imagine the lost revenue. It really needs to be addressed. I am not a big concessions guy but I do like a beer or two but I don't bother.

Year one in the Sun Belt far exceeded my expectations.

Probably best to have another thread for this but I think the whole "fan experience" should be looked into. I don't think it's a wise business decision to continue to do things like we have been doing in the past. From concessions to RMC to on field promotions to the spirit squads.

Why the hell do I pay/donate for a parking pass when passes aren't getting scanned or there isn't even a parking attendant in C lot? Why do I buy chair back seats when I can just buy general admission and find a open seat in the good sections like so many people are doing? What is an acceptable time to get into the Stadium?

I'm giving the team a solid A but this season's game day experience a D.

Ha, hope that wasn't me. I'm not totally sure the time you guys are talking about and I can't think of a time I started one that went poorly but I do start plenty JMU chants from 109. If it was after the interception though I don't remember if I was the one to start it but do remember thinking no big deal, the defense was so fired up and celebrating while the score was already 40-7... Generally I do try to be quick or not at all if after a turnover and try to get the shushing started with plenty of time.

One thing that I do wish would stop in 109 though is a handful of people who think it's helpful to scream at whatever defender is closest to the sideline.

I complained and I personally have only been to one home game since the stadium was rebuilt (I’ve been to a couple of road games). I live overseas and it’s extremely rare that I am in the right place at the right time. When I do go to games, however, I stay for the whole game.

Outstanding year. I'd really like another run at Georgia Southern and Marshal with the JMU team that played last weekend. We should have beaten GSU, and a healthy JMU team beats Marshal.

8-3 beats the average expectation I think.

It's exciting now to be part of the conversations about championship weeks and bowl games which will hopefully be part of the discussion next season. Great year and kudos to the team.

1. Alcohol sales were an afterthought for BFS. Now that we’re getting consistent crowds, we need a better long term setup. In the 300 level, I can’t tell you how many times people aren’t aware that they need an ID check in a separate line before getting in the beer line. Need more people checking IDs or better signage.

2. Ticket and parking pass reselling reached another level this year. Tough to fathom that parking passes are selling for more than a pro game.

3. I will be shocked if JMU isn’t talking about a stadium expansion within 12 months.

4. ESPN coverage was wonderful. From betting shows to highlights, JMU had as much coverage as any G5 team.

5. We need some more DB depth.

Tremendous season. Go Dukes.

We knew we were going to have a good defense, but the near-inevitability of that offense was the part that surprised me.

Huh? Our Defense was great.

He's trying to say that having Centeio wouldn't have mattered against Marshall because their defense was so good and our defense couldn't stop them. Even though obviously it might've been a completely different game on both sides if Centeio was out there likely moving the chains much more than Atkins could.

It's funny how so many JMU fans can acknowledge that aspect in a 47-7 win that was 40-7 after three but I think like one Marshall fan on here has acknowledged that in a 26-12 game that was 19-12 after three.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I have zero doubt we'd have beaten Marshall though. It would've been a completely different ball game.

Negative! Never have we underestimated the importance of good defense at any level, FBS or otherwise. We have been a very good defensive team for a very long time.

RE: Your Post Season Thoughts
Pro's:

-Season ended way over expectations. 5-6 or 6-5 was the average consensus. I know this because even with an 8-3 finish, I almost felt like it was a disappointing season after the start and performance we had all year. We should've got GaSo and Marshall.

-Dukes traveled well to away games, at least the ones I went to at App St. and ODU. Had many App St. folks tell me how well we traveled and ODU we conservatively occupied 25% of the stadium, probably more.

-I know others had complaints about this, but no more parking nazi's in convo lot. This will need to be addressed as demand rises.

-Increase in people tailgating. In the past, Convo was often half empty outside of opening game and homecoming. Seemed like it was 60-70% full on a regular basis this year

-Tons of young talent making their self known this year and a majority of the team coming back next year. Particularly excited about the O-line.

-Love seeing visitor fans. Were Marshall and Coastal the only teams we really saw bring fans?

Con's:
-Concessions and beer lines suck, just get rid of them if you want to keep them as they are (Hope the departments are monitoring this board)

-Attendance is still not what I would hope it would be. Students leave at halftime, games around thanksgiving are weak, upper deck is rarely filled out

-T.V. time outs are awful with being FBS, but the "entertainment" is even worse. How about they highlight what's going on around the conference for once or highlight plays/wins of prior game(s)?

-Disney s*** being shoved down our throats

-Cell service at high attendance games being non existent. This can't happen if you want students to stay and families with young children attending

-The majority of "fans" still sitting on their hands and if lucky, we get some clapping out of them. I mean even the section of players/players families don't root.

Does anyone know what happened to our P.A. Announcer at football games? I'm fine with the current one, just curious as to what happened to the P.A. Announcer that had been doing it for years - retire? I thought he was there for the first home game or two, but maybe it took me a couple of games to notice.

Not trying to be a Debbie-downer, but I live in realville. If we do not get something going with NIL we will continue to lose top talent. I can’t imagine we keep all our stud O-line or the LB’s etc this year. I heard Juice Wells got a cool half mil…we can complain about it, talk about how it is not purist amateur athletics, or excuse it away etc, but it’s the new reality. I asked a few big donors (top 1% givers) what they thought, and their response was something like “do I take away from my normal donation and hurt my Duke Club points/ranking?” There has to be a way to start an NIL fund that won’t hurt the ranking of top tier donors. Fact: Lots of schools have beautiful campuses, beautiful women, and good academics. $$$ Green is normally > than our sexy purple.
