Never count out these Hawks however!

Our team can absolutely compete and beat them, but they need to execute an off-ball movement scheme much earlier in the game. For the life of me I can’t ever figure out why we wait for the last 7-10 minutes of a game to start that.

Tonight, some clutch second half shooting saved our butts, and it was the result of everyone moving whether they had the ball or not. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that creates open looks.

North Texas will likely not turn the ball over as much as Vermont, and if they jump out to a double digit lead it will be more difficult to reel them back in. Vermont did just as much to lose that game tonight as our guys did to win it.

Remember though, those of us that pointed out this same failure in the offense last year were told to shutup and color.

Here we are, getting pummeled by a less than average Vermont squad.

Who said that? Everyone talked about how bad our offense was.

Not gonna name any names, but their board name rhymes with “GrayHawk”.

Gotta love the folks who avoid the game thread like the plague only to show up postgame with a "told ya so." I'm sure you were sitting there supremely confident we'd win while we were down 14 and lifeless on offense.

Glad to see the fellas showed that blend of skill and toughness they're capable of but I really, really would like to see us show more of that movement on offense early in the game so we can avoid a double-digit deficit to dig out of wherever possible. That criticism is more than justified by now.

Agree 100%, but that happens in multiple areas. The entire purpose of a message board is to have discussions. If you are willing to put yourself out there to actually create things to DISCUSS, then you may be wrong or you may be right, but at least you're creating discussion. Sitting back and only commenting after something is over is cowardly.

I disagree...I personally think whining and crying during a game is cowardly. The other team is trying to win to you know. I choose to give our guys the benefit of the doubt and criticize them after a game. To each his own. I've already stated my thoughts/expectations for this season in other threads. Without naming names, I don't have to criticize on a game by game, half by half or sometimes possession by possession basis as others do.

You're basic contribution is to criticize anything that isn't a glowing review of anything UNCW basketball. Even if you don't take our thoughts seriously, it's interesting that the announcers quite often mimic our concerns. So maybe they are seeing the same thing we are.

We are obviously trending in the right direction and this year was a big unknown with so many starters departing and so many new guys on the roster. The defense looks far superior to last year while the offense is developing. If we are going to get to the point where we can upset some P5 programs(something that is rare at UNCW), we are going to have to improve our offensive scheme. Defense is fine but the belief we are going to win the ISO mathups against the size we face against P5 schools is a fantasy.

And there is nothing wrong with realistic concerns about the program and our strategies. And for those of us who like to watch the game AND comment during the game there is also nothing wrong with expressing the ups and downs that go with the flow of the game. It has ZERO impact on the game and it's entertaining for some of us to have a live conversation. Nobody is forced to do so and there is no reason to criticize those who do. It's what makes a DISCUSSION BOARD interesting. Take a peek at literally every other active discussion board in the country and you'll see the same thing. It's not uncommon, unusual or a problem for pretty much everyone but you.

I will continue talking about things I think we can do better until we win a national title.

2 things GrayHawk can do about it:

1) Nothing

2) Like it

I don't care whether you have a glowing review or not. Let me simplify even more for you. I find it comical to read some of these "the sky is falling" posts that were made during a game. You choose to make them during the game and thats absolutely your right. I choose to wait and base my opinion after a game/season etc and that MY right. I don't have a problem with what you post during a game, but you seem to take issue of what I post after a game. If its a discussion board, why is is that you are ok to criticize my posts, but whine when I do the same to yours. I do agree about realistic expectations. This team lost too much players/staff/support staff to duplicate its run from last year. As I've stated in other threads we don't have the go to guys, nor the shooters to do that and again agree that this years team will go as far as the defense will allow it.

GrayHawk, when much of what you do in your 200-ish posts is complain about other fans, it stands out. And you have the audacity to call US "whiney".

You casually ignore all the times 82 and I are exceedingly positive about what is going on. Generally, I'd say he and I are far more on the optimistic/positive side of the coin than the negative.

Anyways, on to the title game.

What stands out to me 08 is that I have a differing opinion than you, you don't like it and think because you have 10s of thousands of posts here you're going to constantly call me out. As you stated it is a message board so just deal with the fact that we won't always agree. Somebody calls one of your posts cowardly and I guarantee you will have something to say about it. What makes you think I'm any different? I don't lump you and 82 together. I take it on a post by post basis since I don't know you personally or have 10s of thousands of posts like you two do. If you think of yourself as a positive poster then so be it. Thats really all that matters. Yes, on to the game. Its a tall task but I hope the guys are up to it.
