I think he’d be a good hire on paper at least.
Brother is a huge Michigan fan and said he was not at all involved in recruiting. Very much an xs and os guy, and not sure how he'd fare as a HC.

Wisconsin is probably a better job than Michigan State. Top dog in the state (only dog) compared to being in Michigan’s shadow.
Maybe but the last two coaches at UW (who weren't fired) left there to go to Arkansas and Oregon St. so it must not be so glorious.

If he goes to Wisconsin does that forever eliminate him from any OSU consideration?

Luke is a program builder, but a subpar Gameday X’s and O’s Coach. OSU needs a guy that can scheme. Their program is already built.

Take Willie Fritz with us to the Big 12? Although his age kind of scares me. 62
I'd go after Tom Herman.

Wisconsin is a much better job than MSU. After Ohio State and Michigan, it's Penn State and Wisconsin in terms of brands.
Given that playoff expansion is right around the corner, it's not going to be surprising when occasionally 3 (or even 4) schools from the same conference end up in the playoff, depending on how big it gets.

He's gone.
Screw him.
When your girlfriend asks to see other guys every 6 months, sometimes it's best to help her pack.
Another huckster. Every one of them is. This should guarantee both football and basketball are dumpster fires in time for the B12.

After his decision to jot call a TO at the end of the 1st half to try to maybe get a FG...then losing by a FG..I'm not the right guy to be blue about him today. lol

If CLF leaves, we'll be fine. However, if his goal is to get to the CFP every year, Wisconsin is not the way. With UCLA and USC coming in, Wisconsin will always be a good, but not great, program. Wisconsin would be, at best, the ~5th best B1G program, but not every year and that won't make the CFP.
The easier path is through the Big12 or ACC. We'll have the Big12 money and will be able to hire a top tier coach. We'll see.

If you want to make a big splash and keep the recruiting class, call Urban. Otherwise, I'd put in a call to Tom Herman. Jesse Minter is an interesting candidate, but if he's not been involved in recruiting then I'd pass.

Herman.
We need offense for the B12. Hire a D coach and we will end up being Northwestern.
If we hire Gino I'm pulling down my UC flag permanently.

RE: 2022 Offseason Coaching Carousel
Fickell gave us the most magical year in program history, and for that I am grateful. If he goes to Wisconsin I wish him well - though their fans will not be as forgiving as ours.
Last year he told us - multiple times - he was going to build a top 5-10 program here. This year we see sloppy play and rumors he’s leaving. “This is who we are,” he says. If he empties the cupboard on the way out…
So he’s not quite the guy he made himself out to be, but I understand.

If you look at Herman's resume, most of his time has been spent in B12 territory so there's a lot of synergy there. Makes sense plus he has Cincinnati roots.

Never had a losing season. He's still young. 47. Offensive minded, Currently on an NFL staff, so maybe he's picked up a few things.
