However- maybe he saw the light in the offseason and cleaned up his Assistant staff. If they can bring in players and he can coach them up...maybe there is hope. I like this years roster better than previous years and see potential.
I think he's a good guy and runs a clean program...but if he can't win in this league with the facilities and resources the University have given him...it's time to move on.
Still not sure about this years recruiting class. As of now, not looking good. I do concur with everything you said about JJ.
What difference does his recruiting classes even make anymore? We are turning the roster over every season anyway.

Exactly. It used to matter in the past, but now that kids leave every year at the drop of a hat, and most rosters are full of new transfers with only 2 or even 1 year of eligibility left, the number of years left on a coaches contract is irrelevant as long as its at least 1.

I get that he's not a horrible coach and he's cheap, but he has not gotten results to write home about either. Over a very lengthy tenure.
I agree about supporting Rhane for at least another year or two. But as we've seen with schools like USM and GaSo, a team can go from crap to pretty good in two seasons with the portal and the right coach. RR needs to step it up soon. Im rooting for the basketball Monarchs to win it all. But assuming they don't, its past time for JJ to go. And if they don't do it (barring a great run) then you may have a point. Though the boycotts seemingly come naturally as people simply stop coming to see losing teams.
For the first time since 1996 (sans Covid), I won't be driving down to see any non-conference home games. It's not so much a boycott as it is the quality of the team and the quality of the schedule. A pure financial decision on my part as I want some bang for my buck. A 6 hour round trip to watch a team struggle at home to best Virginia Wesleyan isn't worth it to me. Thus the natural boycott.
Struggle at home vs. Virginia Wesleyan?
The Monarch's were out scored in the second half by a D III team in that game. Not very impressive. D III, man.
I know you don't follow the games or look to see who we are playing, but the VA Wes game was never in doubt. It was a 20 point lead in the second half before we took our foot off the gas.

The good news is the guys we got this year (except for Baker) would possibly have to sit out a year if they transfer again.
Unless they transfer to P5, then they get waivers.

His compensation package before any bonus is $525,000. His new contract is a 4-year deal that started August 27th, 2021 and he is in year 2 of that deal currently. The agreement is due to be reviewed next year. His buyout is $350,000 per year for each year remaining on his contract if he were to be let go.
The deal is dated August 27th, 2021 and was signed by Hemphill, Selig and Jones.
I resent my donations being used to support such mediocrity. It's time to clean house in that athletic department starting with Selig.
Double extra bonus ditto for this.

Typical...this was all done by the duo of Broderick and Wood. Like I said before ...there was a lot of difficult decisions that were punted on and it was purposeful. I think every donor should demand their donations back or be given an option to readjust their donation based on this information.

It's only important for a short period of time (1-2 years), however, we can't seem to even get that right!

Either way, there was nothing about that performance that would make me want to drive a 6 hour round trip to watch it. That was my point.

I was basically laughed at when I asked for the donations I'd given for the wrestling program that year to be returned. Already been allocated, so I was told by the ODAF.
SELIG is the problem. Been the problem for years. Always been the problem. Even before the wrestling drop and silent removal of the diving part of Swim & Dive, he was the problem.
What is the saying about the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Selig ain't gonna change how he operates.
He's gonna ride this right into retirement. That's how long we're going to have to deal with these types of decisions and personnel moves.

NEWS: Jeff Jones signed a contract extension last year, deal runs through 2025
I said this earlier in the thread, but it’s very obvious to me that winning is not a priority.
Somebody….. please show me some evidence that I’m wrong?

I think that is 100% the case with basketball. Don't think it is the case with football.
