According to this (https://www.covers.com/sport/football/nc...do-rockets) UT about to be 4-8 against the spread. That will be the worst in the MAC. What does that say?

We will get totally smoked in any bowl game we might go to. The MAC will send us to the least desirable game that they have to fill.

It doesn't matter if UT comes back to win this terrible game.

The AD needs to tell Candle that he will not renew his contract after next season no matter how the team plays. Hopefully, that will encourage Candle to find another job. And forget about being a lame duck coach-it can't get any worse.

This is so spot on.

I've said the exact thing on other strings. I watch a decent amount of football. Our brand is just bad. Bad execution, bad coaching, bad situational decisions, etc. It's so frustrating to watch.

Blame the int on the O line. Candle knew it would be bad and did nothing.

Ticket sales to the MACC will be on fire after this game… not.

Imagine how bad your o line has to be to continually throw on 4th and 1 or 2.

One measly yard to keep that drive going and that was the call? That whole game was hot garbage.

Candle needs to be a stand up guy and resign. As it is, he's stealing his salary from UT.

Yep, It’s gonna be a gamble. We can’t afford to pay Candle-like $$$ for a new hire, so we’ll just have to hope that we catch an Urban Meyer-type (the BG one, not the kinda crazy he later became elsewhere) position coach from a P5 school who shows he can be a game day coach, or an experienced & successful FCS head coach who is personally ready to move up, and pay top-3 $$$ for the MAC and see where we are after a few seasons.

But mediocrity can no longer be coronated as “excellence”. Never again.

We shouldn't pay a new coach more than the average salary in the MAC. If he's really great, he's gone. If he's terrible, the buyout is less. Make him earn his raises, a little at a time. There are tons of coaches who would want the job. Three year contract. If they don't want it, move on.

So sad the way the season has ended, and I honestly was thinking about going to Detroit; not any longer. I would bet OU will bring a far bigger crowd than UT. If I had to guess the attendance for this one will be around 15,000. IF and that is a big IF, somehow the Rockets eek out a victory over the Bobcats, the Rockets will go to a bowl game sporting a 8-5 record, and depending what happens in the bowl, Candle has 1 more season, or signs another contract as head coach for the Rockets. Otherwise at 7-6, I would hope the Rockets stay home and not spend anymore money.

I think the bar (money) has been set too high for the Rockets to pay anything less for a head coach than Candle. What and who will you get for $575-600,000 as a head coach at UT ? I agree whoever they may go with, 3 year contract and no longer.

Who knows? But there would be plenty of applicants. Put major bonuses in their contract. $100 K for each win over 7. Ten wins, an extra $300K.

Funny how some of the Candle diehards are starting to turn. We saw this disaster years ago. He should’ve never been HC here
