We didn't have you beat. Troy had you beat, which brings me back to my original point...

That much is believable, and I was aware that those presentations were happening even before they actually took place. I certainly wouldn't be mad if C-USA went to twelve and EKU/Tarleton were the pair.

Keep in mind jonsey there was running around pissed at the world holler the sky was falling up unto the week KSU was invited.

Location is entirely in ekus favor.

We've been building and remodeling buildings/facilities for over 10 years all over campus academic, residence halls, recreation, and athletic. And still more in the works. Yet we were still surprised we were chosen.

CUSA will likely go to twelve with no movement. With likely realignment right around the corner the odds are even greater.
It stinks to wait though. I get the frustration and have to say KSU didn't have to suffer.

Look at KSU campus as a hole. KSU went through those frustrations when we did not have a football program. Look at KSU dorms, academic buildings, academic offerings etc. Look at KSU's budget. KSU is a R2 research university. It took time to build what I mentioned. KSU was building while people were not paying attention. KSU was building when they did not have a football program.

It was rumored since the spring that KSU was C-USA top chose. It should not be a surprise to EKU fans or any following the rumor trail that KSU was chosen.

I was definitely not surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Very accurate points jones682. Football was a non factor in KSU's growth and improvements. Many of those strides were taken while/before they did feasibility studies for a possible football team.
This is supported by the fact that the current 2 most needed improvements both are related to football. Capacity and Attendance.

There are already plans developed to expand the stadium. The stadium was built for expansion in mind. The stadium was built as a soccer stadium but KSU knew that they were going to play football there and they knew it need to be expanded. Therefore, they built footers in the stadium for expansion. They already created the plans for expansion and it is mentioned in the University Master Plan 2016 and 2020. Again, KSU budget is around Georgia Southern budget as a FCS program. This was planed.

Didn't they just purchase some new property to build a new stadium too, or was that misreported?

I have no ideal. Nathan Mccreery mentioned that they was going to build a new stadium, however, the AD said that he was going to expand the stadium, which makes more sense. I don't know what Nathan was taking about. He use to be the radio voice for KSU however he does work for EKU now. The does not want KSU nor EKU to move to FBS.

KSU did buy the BrandSmart next to the current stadium. However, no plans have been mentioned to be definite, that they will build the new stadium there. They were worried about the time frame to have a new stadium, parking lots around it, ect ready in time for 2024. That being said, there is a plan that they want to expand the current stadium to meet the current FBS requirements to buy some time. KSU does own the new land though. In addition, KSU does own the current football stadium and will continue to rent it out for events because they make a good chunk of change off that. On a side note, i never was a big fan of Nathan Mccreary. He always seemed to look at KSU for what it used to be 20 years ago instead of what KSU is now, which lead him to consistently be critical of any type of growth or expansion that KSU was planning or currently taking. The move to FBS was one of them. You would think, that if you are the voice of a program, you would support and be exciting for a move to FBS. His podcast about it had very little positive takeaways. I hope KU since they are a more established and older program, will get better treatment form Nathan.

RE: WAC-ASUN FB full merger??
Pulling this thread back on topic, I was told that the specifics of Coach Carthel’s statement last week were privately confirmed by our AD. The merger is happening and “is about” going FBS. But, nothing was said about FBS being a “done deal” or any BS like that.

From a different source, it was mentioned that the WAC has been actively re-establishing bowl tie-ins. They mentioned the Holiday Bowl (an old school WAC tie-in) in San Diego along with the First Responders Bowl in Dallas and the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery. Kinda interesting that those line up perfectly with the geography of the new WAC/ASUN football merger footprint.

I’m eager to hear the announcement about the FCS conference merger soon!

Of course, it’s the Wild West in college sports these days. I wouldn’t be surprised if anything happens. I even hear that Chatty and Samford are lobbying for EKU and UNA to be invited to the SoCon but the military schools want to stay at 10.

So, who knows what things will look like this time next year.

RE: WAC-ASUN FB full merger??
I think what comes out of this whole FBS restructuring, rules changing, or reorganizing whatever it is will either be a big dud or blow up football altogether.
Until this is settled what happens here or anywhere else is sorta up in the air.
FBS vs FCS could change in a million ways.

Absolutely. I thought the Transformation Committee was supposed to announce something soon. But, I doubt they do. Seems they just want to kick the can down the road and keep everyone in flux.
