Next up the 3-3 Richmond Spiders. Just knocked off Temple on Tuesday.

In the post game interview, Coach K said "it was day-to-day, he will be back soon" whatever that means. My interpretation: he is injured; he will be back when he's well enough to play. ;-)

Not necessarily a “great” win but that doesn’t take away from the fact it was a badly needed one, & the Rockets did hold off NKU when they made some runs. Most impressive to me was they did it without Shumate during crunch time.

Much better start obviously, and I think moving Farmer out of the starting lineup may have been a key.

Speaking of Farmer, he & Lorentsson really came up big with Cochran unable to play.

4-2 sounds a lot better than 3-3. Rockets have an opportunity to get back in a groove if they can beat a pretty solid Richmond team.

RE: MBB vs. Nothern Kentucky Game Thread
Farmer was great today IMO, and I got to see the game. So was Maddox. Of course we had the adult in the room stand up, in Milner. Great game. They said in post game he was frustrated yesterday, and maybe for the first time it showed on the court. He came back with a dandy. Good on him.

It was mentioned that Moss isn't scoring much, and I agree. He chucked up too many threes when he shouldn't have, that's not his game, at least yet. His ball handling is better. He even runs the point at times. I think he's working on being a slasher but clunks too many - that day will come. I still think he has a large upside, and will be an important part of this team. He also plays good defense. One of our linebackers after all. Love it.

In general, especially after today, we have to like what we see out of the bench. That's huge. Cochran and Maddox are players. I hope this game gives Farmer some confidence. He is talented and can help too. Anything out of AJ is a bonus, along with Andre, who had a better game today, but was only 1-4 from 3 I think.

NKU along with Wright State and Oakland is one of the favorites to take the Horizon league title. They did have a signature win over UC at Home. But with that in mind, UC may not be the winning team as in years past, having been blown out by the Buckeyes, 53-81 in the Maui Classic.

RE: MBB vs. Nothern Kentucky Game Thread
I still wonder what the technical was for on JT? I said yesterday the refs sucked, which drives some people nuts, I know, but they did. For both teams. They would overlook a play that looked like a pulling guard knocking a linebacker on his butt, then blow the whistle for a cheap hand check or bump.

The first game they were yelling the 30 second clock countdown (finally got some of them), constantly changing and drying off balls due to getting on the ice. It was kind of a general cluster you know what.

Perhaps UT should skip that tourney in the future, if invited ?

KC got ripped by FGCU, whoever they are, 73-59. Mitchell for KC had 29, another guy with 10. Other than that, nothing much.

Of course - the line for KC

FG 3PT FT
33.9 % 32.0 % 61.1 %

They missed about 4 shots against us. That's college basketball.

Why? They won it in 2018(?).

I agree. This would have looked good on our resume if things turned out as planned. The way I took it, we were suppose to play the team we played today in the finale. The two best teams going in. Except we played at 11am for 7th and 8th. Opps!

We took care of business without a starter and a main cog for the last 11+ minutes. &%$# happens.

Learn from this and get back to business. It is a long season.

Florida Gulf Coast. They went to the NCAA Sweet 16 about 10 years ago. Dunk City.

Any chance Coach K will rip the redshirts off either of our 2 forwards sitting out this season? If we need an additional big guy, we do have these two.

I’d like to have seen that true freshman play this season.

Are there any football players who played HS bball who could join the team in a month?

Kooper Jacobi and Javan Simmons will likely not stay at Toledo for 5 years if they are not starters. Therefore, redshirting them this year really makes no sense for UT. Give them some experience and use them in situations where it makes sense. You never know when Shumate or Milner will foul out.

My best guess is one or both of them will transfer after this season. I also believe this will be Edu's last year. Wilson will likely go in the transfer portal too. That means 3 or 4 available scholarships. Rumor is that Cooper Davis will get one of them--but that could be incorrect. These available scholarships should be used for proven big men from the portal.

Can’t remember any proven big men transferring into the MAC. OHIO got a big guy from X, but he was more of a wing. Proven big guys are hard to find. By big men, I mean 6-9 or better.

If youre thinking about Carter, he started at Ohio, left for X, then came back. Never really panned out as a dominant player but an all league guy for sure. He was bound to be a star after his frosh year in my eyes. Now X's head coach is at Miami. Crazy.
