Creighton wins the 2nd set.
We want Creighton to win, right?
Probably that helps our overall RPI more, but the bottom line (we hope) is one of these two teams is hosting and one is not. If Rice is screwed from hosting, it's likely going to be at the expense of two of the following three teams - Penn State, UCF and Houston.
Creighton now up 2 sets to 1.

If Creighton wins, they will jump is in RPI and I don’t think the loss will push Marquette below us. So they would likely both finish ahead of us in RPI.

Yes, but the NCAA also has to account for its bottom line and it would be tough to justify 9 regionals in the upper midwest (if you consider the state of Kentucky to be in the upper midwest which is debatable).
If the final host comes down to Marquette or UCF, from a logistics standpoint, it's probably easier to find better regional fits for UCF. Marquette or Penn State - 1 perhaps - but both teams as hosts? For the same reason one would think Houston and Rice both won't host, you can say the same for Marquette and Wisconsin both hosting, or Creighton and Nebraska both hosting.
In any regard, Marquette wins a marathon 4th set, 30-28. So they are going to 5....
oh wait, maybe there was a point overruled? hold off on the 5th set for a bit.....
Marquette wins the 4th set, 33-31? So 5th set, here we come.

Appears Creighton ran out of subs late in the 4th.

Marquette would still be on the hosting bubble even if they lose. Not true of Creighton.

No, Marquette has the superior overall resume. It shouldn't matter to us, but I'd be rooting for Marquette as this would know Creighton (who has already lost to Marquette) out of the running.

Again, there is no way the Committee is going to pick either UH or UCF over us. based on what criteria exactly? I think Penn State is now in. If Creighton wins it's gets a bit dicey, but as with UH, I can't see the committee selecting Creighton over Rice for a final spot given we won the H2H and have a superior To 25/50 resume.

RPI is an important criteria, but it is just one criteria. Conference record and championship is also a key criteria, as is record vs. Top 25/50. It's the latter that puts both Penn State and Baylor in, IMO.

RE: Volleyball scores this week
Ohio State closes the regular season on a 4-match losing streak (two to unranked Indiana and Maryland), losing to Wisconsin in 4 at home tonight. It's going to be interesting to see have far they slide in the polls. Indiana will make the tourney, but not Maryland. I think OSU has fallen out of the Top 10 seeds with their recent struggles.

RE: Volleyball scores this week
With all regular season and conference tourney action completed, we've moved up to #14 in real time RPI, followed by Creighton, Baylor, UCF, UH, Penn State and Georgia Tech. Marquette is at #13, but lacks the conference championship. We also have one more win than Marquette vs. Top 25 and Top 50...
http://ncaastats.figstats.net/volleyball...vXiP8Rhf04
If I were to guess, the last 4 host sites will be (no particular order): Baylor, Penn State, Rice and Creighton (based entirely on taking 2 of 3 from Marquette and winning the conference title).

Results have not been updated to include Big East.

Possible that Rice gets a host spot and gets Houston and LSU. Basically a rematch of the opening tournament. But more likely would get TCU since they can’t go to Baylor or Texas.

I wonder why they wait all day for the selection show. It's not like there are any matches being played today (which is the reason for the delay in basketball).
I guess they don't want to compete against football (any version of it) for the sports news cycle, although I don't think that's as much of a point of contention as the NCAA might think.

ESPN probably gives the NCAA an offer it can't refuse, if it wants the field's announcement to be broadcast live.
