Coach Nikki was an excellent hire, just wish she lasted longer than a carton of milk.
Agreed, she would have continued to excel at ODU. It was just unfortunate that, from the very beginning, she took the job only as a stepping stone and never really thought ODU was "good enough" for her.
I do not agree with this — stepping stone— at all. Nikki is a quality person, one of the best I’ve even met. Everyone has goals and aspirations and Nikki had them too. If anyone thought the big programs were not going to come for her, well, they were delusional. She brought our program out of the horrible state it was allowed to sink. And when she left, the team was full of good players, capable of contending for the conference championship. If the job opened tomorrow, I, for one, would strongly recommend Nikki.
Amen, which is why I am disappointed with coach Milton. Too many Nikki's players transferred, leaving us where we are.

I too feel heavily disappointed in the loss to Elon, yet I still believe its too early to throw in the towel on Coach Milton-Jones. We have a bunch of new players on the team, so it'll take a few games under their belt to properly adjust to playing each other. My target remains midseason, and if at that point there isn't much improvement, count me in on the bandwagon, but for right now, I will exercise patience.

The highly successful Miss St coach took the job at Texas. It was an unexpected coaching vacancy in Starkville. Can't blame Nikki for taking that opportunity when she had it in front of her.

I believe that with our athleticism and depth, this team is going to be just find. Coach Milton-Jones and a very good coach, but still discovering the best player combinations. I am really looking forward to watching this team pressure the basketball.
I understand they are working on a 3/4 trap, and we may even see a trapping zone. Not sure if that's actually the plan or not, but it would be fun to see when and if it happens.
Heck, if we could make free throws we might actually be 4-1 right now. Perhaps ...

We can definitely agree to disagree. Stating the fact that Nikki used ODU as a stepping stone, as her first head coach gig, is not a knock on Nikki as a person. It is what it is. Nobody should fault Nikki for advancing her career, but let's not confuse that with also having a huge commitment for ODU. As an ODU fan, would I take a quality coach like Nikki? Absolutely, 100% of the time.
You are correct that when she took the MSU job, the ODU roster was full of good players. However, she did not take a single player with her, and in the first handful of months of Delisha's tenure, she advised some of those players on how & where to transfer. With the current status of the transfer portal, I don't blame players for consulting with people they know, including their current & old coaches. But to advise players not to stay at ODU, tells me her thoughts of the Delisha (and her staff) and the ODU WBB program.
