The NCAA has not disclosed the formula. They don't want you to see all of the lips and buttholes that go into their brand of hotdog.

great visual ... no L's in Quad 3 or 4's ... some teams from Quad 2, can move into Quad 1, depending on how they continue the rest of the regular season

Yeah, selection is still the smoke-filled good ole boys war-room scenario.

36 - Sagarin (up 11)
39 - ESPN BPI (up 5)
18 - RPI (up 3)

Bracketology:
Palm CBS 8-seed

Katz and Lunardi (slackers) not updated after Cincy win:
Lunardi ESPN 11-seed (no change)
Katz 11-seed play-in

We're at 17 in the RPI.

You can use warrennolan.com to get on the fly updates to the RPI. (The net calculations are done once per day I believe.)

He does have a cool feature called "impact games." These show the games being played that day and how they will impact your rpi if a team wins or loses.

For instance, today we are rooting for Alabama St to win, which will increase our rpi score by about 10 points. Although this will not move us up in rpi, it will move us close to Texas in the 16 spot. There's only 89 points separating us from #12 Houston, and only 130 points away from the top 10 in rpi.

https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2...am=Memphis

RPI is irrelevant

It for sure isn't irrelevant. For sure there are components of it woven into the NET.

Hope you are right
Our RPI is going to be quite higher than the NET

Right ? ---You will need more than hope---more like divine intervention

I guess UCF and Auburn losing at home last night dropped us?

I'll bet UCF didn't have that raucous student section that they had for our game, encouraging the refs in their normal ineptness. We're e'rybody's super bowl!

UCF is also struggling with injuries right now - like we have been.

I watched that game with Houston. UCF held it down pretty well. It was relatively close until the end, and for much of the game I thought the Knights had a good chance of upsetting the Coogs. Being down players definitely did them no favors in the final third of the game, but you could tell Sampson wasn't feeling that confident for most of the match.

We dropped to 40. Michigan St jumped ahead of us by beating a 12-8 Iowa team at home. They need to change the NET to the MWC rankings since they have 5 teams ahead of us.

No bad losses yet. Wish we could have a few possessions back in some of those games but we should not be the bubble team that we have been made out to be. We are having a good season that, as is, is worthy of a 5-7 seed.

Yep. Flip the buzzer beater by SH and the dbl OT game vs UCF and you are talking 4/5 seed right now. Wild

I honestly do not understand our NET ranking. I've been tracking about 10 similar teams metric-wise. We are being undervalued on the NET.

It is going to get worse the next 4 games.

The American is pretty good I think. But no one else thinks that and the computers hate it. I think it’s pretty comparable to the mountain west. And they will probably get 4 or 5 teams in the dance. We exposed Boise state last year and Theo conference went 0-4 in the first round. Boise state is 0-8 all time in tourney games

The American is definitely underrated. We should be at least a three bid conference this year, but it won't happen.

Those ten similar teams, are they ranked higher than us? Of those ranked higher, how do they look in regards to blowout wins?

I'll polish up the analysis this weekend and post it. Just about all are ranked higher in the NET than we are - but with similar or worse resumes/metrics.

I'll add the number of wins/losses = or > 15 points.

That would be great. At the very least it could help to make sense of what's driving the NET.
