Know it's very early in season but nice to see the tougher early schedule paying off. Tigers at #22 in RPI. Wonder how much weight RPI will continue to hold for NCAA tourney.

RE: Very early RPI rankings...Tigers at 22
RPI has little - if any - relevance any more. They may use it as part of the seeding process.
The NCAA pushes the NET now as their benchmark - but they haven't put out their 1st ranking of the season yet.
NET - NA
KenPom - 27
Sagarin - 27
ESPN BPI - 42
Coaches poll - 36
AP - NR

BTW, Houston is #1 or 2 in all of these rankings.

Watch what happens after each of their next 10 games or so. They have crap for a schedule. Same with Tulane. Both are good teams. 07-coffee3

They stayed way up there last year and the year before. Don’t look for them to drop a whole bunch if they keep winning

This next week the Tigers have some serious opportunities to get on the national radar.

I'm loving the potential rotations with Dandridge;Kao and Deandre C Law as he shows some promise as well, sprinkle in McCadden with his versatility/hustle/athleticism... Dandridge asserting himself, I believe is a testament to Faragi and F Haith...Especially with Faragi, this role is perfect for him and I think he is relishing in this role, I am grateful as It's very refreshing to see Malco D playing quality minutes, as well as Kao, they're becoming factors...04-bow

I agree, especially with Dandridge. Twice against North Alabama, Malco got the ball at the free throw line. I just knew he was going to try to drive to the hole (unsuccessfully). But he didn’t. He passed the ball, set up on the block, and made a good move and scored. That’s improvement. Even the announcer noticed it.

He is a load when he is posted up on the block. His moves look clunky and unorthodox but he manages to make a lot of them.

According to KenPom, Tigers rank #326 out of #363 teams in "Luck".
This variable has always been a weird one to me.
I think he's basically using this as the "plug" bridging item between his algorithm and actual results.
Which basically says that our results are less favorable than he thinks they should be.
Probably that friggin shot by Seton Hall.

Losing close games will rank you towards the bottom in the "luck" category whereas winning close games puts you at or near the top. We ranked #1 in luck in Tubby's last year (2018). We were a bad team but yet that team went 19 - 12 in the regular season. It's because we lucked out on many, many close games. That team could have easily had a sub .500 record in the regular season. Hence them being #1 in he "luck" category.

Interesting that the worst ranking we have is by the one the committee goes by. Plays into my paranoia

UCF got a nice net bump after beating ole miss. They are sitting at 60, will be a quad one game at their place next month if they don’t take any bad losses
