Losing to KC automatically removes any MAC team from at-large consideration, no matter what your final record is.

Win MACC for first time since 1980 or bust

I don’t like those odds.

JC... relax its November.

You’re right, it’s November and everyone can relax, especially because there was never any real chance of a MAC team getting an at large bid anyway. And one stinker of a game is no reason to give up on the MACC.

Zero games against any P5 teams or the Big East will NOT get an at-large bid.
Not that I think we have a CHANCE at running thru the MAC unscathed... Beat George Mason, Vermont, and Richmond and we'd end up like 5-0 in quads 1 and 2. But this is a bad loss. UMKC beat us a few years back in their building. Slow ball with teams who can rebound and score inside is a bad matchup. Will we beat a team like that? We did vs. UAB because we shot well. But argh.

Call timeouts and put in a gameplan! He has buzzer beater OB plays, thats it! At least the women run plays and can scheme open shots. All we did today was miss threes and grab long rebounds just to do it again.

Sorry, but I’m an eternal optimist. I see no reason we can’t garner an NIT bid and be somewhat competitive in the first round before losing.

We just lost to WHO?! Geez. Typical Toledo. Too busy reading their own press clippings and getting cocky. This seemingly happens every single year we have a hot streak going.

Of course we don't need a healthy big guy who can be a rim protector, just sign more guards.

Good. They got humbled (TK included). Can we now dispense with the “we should get more top-25 votes” and the ridiculously over-optimistic “NCAA tournament at-large selection” BS and just focus on getting better & addressing the limitations that we do have in time to pull it together for wins in Cleveland?

That’s all that really matters. Work on fixing the hole in the middle & mental toughness, even if it costs you a few more games before MAC play. Heck, we don’t really need another banner for “Regular Season MAC Champs” either!

Just win every game in Cleveland. If the Rockets use this humbling loss in the right way, we may even have taken a small step forward for March.

We’ll see.

Nothing like losing by double digits to a 1-4 team that lost to divison 2 Lincoln Missouri.

I find it interesting that some people didn't have anything to say after the great performances in the Rockets' 3-0 start, but sure have something to say after their first loss today. Disappointing to lose this game today, but I know they will bounce back.

Maybe not as negative as you'd have liked but the board wasn't ready for my honest analytics. Would have spoiled the high.

I don't like negativity as I'm an optimistic, positive person. What bugs me are the people who never post anything positive after wins, but always post something negative after losses.

That's more of a shotgun then an aimed pistol. I don't really know who that would be. Now if you want names of thse that only post to complain about other people's posting, I can give you a bullseye to hit. 03-lmfao

New parts makes a new team. It was nice to win a unique exposition against a team well regarded, but I think some of us were pragmatic on that thread enough to realize the team had work to do.

The video clip of the Blade article is classic Kowalczyk. Given an invitation to say something nice about UMKC's defense, he says no, their defense really wasn't very good. Kowalczyk is a great recruiter and has had a lot of success at UT, but I have never thought he had any class.

The UMKC head coach is in his first season and brought in three 6-9 freshmen and one 7-2. The whole athletic department has crappy facilities and I think they've had like four coaches in the last ten years.

Their coach Marvin Menzies had 5 NCAA Tournament appearances in 9 seasons at New Mexico State, so he is a good coach.

We’ll see.

I think this is a good way to look at it. We were 18 point favorites, but laid an egg. They got cocky and got smacked in the mouth - learn from that - and they really might have needed that - coach included. He said on the pre-game this was (in so many words) not a good team. But they did what they had to do. You have to give them credit.

They played smart, with intensity (that we didn't have), and kept it up the entire game. Kudos to them. They dictated the game and slowed it down - that is what their game plan was and they followed it. We didn't play ours.

Sure, they shot lights out, while we couldn't hit the floor if we feel off a chair. That's going to happen. Learn from this and go forward, be more prepared, and take care of the task at hand. I think they were cocky and thought all they had to do was show up.

At the end of the day, winning in Cleveland is all that matters, no matter the record. The MAC is probably still a one bid league so focus on what matters. I hope this is a wake up call to all involved. I still think this can be a special team.

bcunn, I noticed that you didn't post anything after any of the 3 wins so far this season, but you posted something after this loss today. Any reason you only post after losses?

Defense has not been good last 2 games now also. That is concerning.

Sounds like the Candle contingent. No, wait, they dont like the way we win either. Candle also doesnt live in the midmajor poll and top 25 newspapers.

The difference is no titles since 1980, and the fact that regular season titles and wins dont matter anyways. Its a 3 game season and whatever amt of wins to make it to Cleveland in the first place.

Didnt shoot well and gave up 20 free throws to a dude who had 17 other pts not from the charity stripe. UMKC will win some games as they come into their own. Its a quad 3 loss at best. You cant garner a 12 seed or better with many of those. Knowing we will have about 10 alone in the MAC shows we wont be blasting every team on the schedule. Also paid for a trip with no third game... thats borderline wasteful.
