Disappointing to lose this game today, but I know they will bounce back.

Maybe not as negative as you'd have liked but the board wasn't ready for my honest analytics. Would have spoiled the high.

I don't like negativity as I'm an optimistic, positive person. What bugs me are the people who never post anything positive after wins, but always post something negative after losses.

Sounds like the Candle contingent. No, wait, they dont like the way we win either. Candle also doesnt live in the midmajor poll and top 25 newspapers.

The difference is no titles since 1980, and the fact that regular season titles and wins dont matter anyways. Its a 3 game season and whatever amt of wins to make it to Cleveland in the first place.

No this is not the "candle contingenet" and very lame to bring that in here. If you don't have a good sensible argument for your own views then maybe the good sensible thing to do is 03-shhhh

The difference I'm basing on reading that UAB game thread is the MB got too high over what was a fun and unique win. UAB was trying to incorporate new parts into their front court and weren't quite there yet. Playing against a bigger front court being our general weakness, they might not been ready yet to present that challenge. We might have put a bit too much hope into that win. Who knows? Teams do have "bad" games.

The poor shooting? My impression over the years, right or wrong is that K's teams come out shooting very cold on foreign courts, not necessarily away MAC courts. That may be true thing in general though.

The no MACC thing will come in if the team falters but for the most part, posters havent spent the usual focus on that yet. It's living up to that UAB win.

RE: UT vs. KC Gulf Coast classic
In this thread and in many other threads this year and in past years, people have posted that the only thing that matters is winning three games in Cleveland. For those of you expressing that sentiment, please understand that other things matter to the players, the coaches, and many fans (including me). There is no factual answer to what matters. There is no law of nature dictating that making the NCAA tournament is the one and only mark of a successful season. If you watch players and coaches during regular season games, you can see that the outcome clearly matters to them. If you watch fans in the stands, same thing. Deciding what matters is purely a matter of taste.

Since you ask understanding from them, you would no doubt take no offense that those last three games are what matters to many. They would gladly take a mediocre season if the end result was those last three wins and it's unlikely those players, coaches and many fans would mourn that mediocre result nor find it somehow less successful. Would they?

Yes of course the goal is the last three games over everything beyond good health. Anything else is short of the goal. Fans maybe be entertained, players may have fun. But success is measured by the last three games.

RE: UT vs. KC Gulf Coast classic
From the UMKC website.

It was Kansas City's first win of the season against a Division I opponent and it came against a team getting votes in the latest Top 25 poll and 5th in the Mid-Major Poll after its 3-0 start.

Their leading scorer today had 35 points, he had 0 in their previous game against K-State

The Roos had a season-low five turnovers in the first half. Toledo also had a season low with three. The team finished with a season-low 11 for the game.

Kansas City hit six of 10 shots from the field and out-rebounded the Rockets 7-2 in the first seven minutes of the second half.

Picked to finish second in the competitive Mid-American Conference, Toledo was fifth in the country in scoring offense at 96.7 ppg, and seventh in field goal percentage at 53.6, but the Roos held the Rockets to 71 points and 39.4 percent from the field.

After shooting a combined 34.5 percent against their previous Div. I opponents, the Roos shot 54 percent from the field vs. Toledo. Kansas City was also out-rebounded in the previous three Div. I games, but had a 35-24 advantage on the boards vs. Toledo.

Looking at the stats; 4 guys for KC in double digits

NAME FG TP
Mukeba 6-6 12
Allen 4-6 13
Kopp 5-14 13
Mitchell 7-9 35

35 shots between those 4 guys. 9 misses by Kopp. Take him out and they were 17 of 21. Got smoked on the boards too. They had bigger linebackers, and didn't miss much.

I understand where you are coming from and of course it’s not the fault of the players and coaches that Toledo has had a 40 some year drought.

However, if the ultimate goal for the team is NCAA tournament and competing for a national title (the goal of any athlete) then perhaps they need to be held to that standard. Hence, why some of us reiterate NCAA or bust for the season given preseason rankings, returning players, and overall buzz around the program.

20 win seasons and NIT appearances are certainly good seasons. But, given the success of the program over the last several years, it’s time to elevate our expectations

That’s all that really matters. Work on fixing the hole in the middle & mental toughness, even if it costs you a few more games before MAC play. Heck, we don’t really need another banner for “Regular Season MAC Champs” either!

Just win every game in Cleveland. If the Rockets use this humbling loss in the right way, we may even have taken a small step forward for March.

We’ll see.

bcunn, I noticed that you didn't post anything after any of the 3 wins so far this season, but you posted something after this loss today. Any reason you only post after losses?

This board…03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao I’d hate to see some of you police a fan board like Ohio State’s…

Even that is a piece of cake compared to some.

If those tired of the "negative-nancies" could realize they are part of an easily tiring other extreme, over which no one complains they have their say, and realize we're all fans, there'd be peace. It's just as hard to read posts by those that cannot acknowledge 3-11 is not what a Toledo coach is paid to achieve but their posts are still read. Not "ghosted." Not put on "ignore." But read because working self-made adults who look to see the whole picture do that.

I think most enjoyed the last two seasons, regardless the end. Good players with good personalities.

Well said. It’s astounding that some grown adults can’t handle someone having a different belief/opinion/viewpoint on something. I’m sick of seeing UT posters get verbally attacked by fellow Rocket fans. Such a weird look and says so much about the individual attacking his/her fellow fan mate. This is a sports message board…a place to come vent frustration, among other things. If you don’t like it, move on with your life!! Why do people feel the need to attack their own fan base? Be kind. Be kind. And then be kind again!!

Didn't watch the game - simply forgot about it. after reading through the posts quickly, sounds like we didn't play much D, their guy got hot and we didn't do anything that would pressure him more. Refs were letting them play and they had the size advantage. It is concerning to lose to a team with the backgournd they have so far. Really good teams can always step up and compete against teams you expect to beat. We even had the lead, then gave it back - plus more on top of that. Move on and figure out the weaknesses, but tough to do if it is mostly lack of size

Disappointed as many are. What bothers me most is that our guys said/implied that we should have beaten them. It is the worst look of all after a loss.

Admit your failings, acknowledge the winner and get back to work. These 2 losses are not good. Get back on the court tomorrow and get the win.

Kansas City goes on to beat 5-0 Indiana St in the semis. Teams often run hot and cold
