Nice. Hoping each gets a home game and we see some new blood at the Convo.

Looks like each team will get a home and an away match, if I'm reading the description correctly.

Now we just have to scour through and figure out who the bottom dwellers are in the SBC men's side of things. Probably still going to mark it as an "L" but at least we will be on a level playing field.

Little Rock and ULM have struggled the last few years. Little Rock is probably their bottom feeder program.

This tough out of conference schedule is preparing the Huskies for the MAC season so you never know they may not be bottom of the MAC

I remember when Arkansas-LR was always good for beating a P5 type team during go the regular season and winning the first round as a low seed. I think that was under Pete Newell. UAB under Gene Bartow was also good for an upset during that time also.

Yup. They've been down on their luck the last couple of years. Darrell Walker won 21 games back in 19-20 and won the regular season but the tournament was canceled because of covid and since then, the program has been going downhill.

Needless to say, none of this matters since they don't play in the Sun Belt anymore...

Moved to the Ohio Valley this year 03-banghead

So, basically take everything I said earlier and disregard it (this was me realizing the mistake mid-comment...)

As for the Sun Belt, newcomer Southern Miss was absolutely terrible last year going 7-26 (1-17 in C-USA) but have gone 4-0 to start this season with wins over Vanderbilt and Liberty (both on the road), so apparently they've righted the ship.

Looks like, in the early stages of the year, South Alabama isn't very good. They're 1-4 with their only win over Mobile (NAIA) and losses to @ New Mexico (and almost nobody loses to New Mexico...), Alabama, @ Oklahoma.

So...not an easy schedule by any stretch of the imagination but New Mexico is terrible and losing to them is bad.

But, of course, I apparently know nothing because New Mexico is somehow 3-0 this year with wins over Southern Utah, South Alabama, and SMU.
Considering we are NORTHERN Illinois, we should have nothing to fear if we were to play New Mexico.

We might as well just change this thread's title to "Facebook Rumors that are 1,000% True!"

Although, we're at least owning up to our screw-ups so maybe that makes us ever-so-slightly better?

New Mexico is bad now? What happened to the fear of playing in "The Pit"?

Not sure but it's been some time.

I remember back when the NCAA Tournament actually played on campuses (and they didn't play on generic, Tournament design floors making every arena look exactly the same), they ALWAYS had a region play at The Pit in the first and 2nd rounds.

I guess they had a decent team several years ago (19-15 in 2017-18) but the days of being an intimidating place to play probably passed around the 2013-14 season when they went 27-7 and was their last trip to the tournament.

Anyway...it could be I've gotten some of the putrid-ness of their football program mixed up with the averageness of the basketball program. But they did go 6-16 two seasons ago so my memory isn't all that terrible.
