The rules needs to be changed so that if a future transitioning team can pull off what JMU did this season, that they'd qualify for championships and bowls. They can call it "the JMU rule."

And on a side note NMSU beat up on Liberty yesterday to go 5-6. They’re scheduling a 12th game against FCS Valparaiso to pad their record and get to 6-6 and hope for a bowl. First, Valpo being FCS has to get a waiver to schedule this game after the FCS regular season ended. NMSU then has to win, and also get a waiver since their 6 wins would include 2 FCS foes, over 1-10 Lamar and this one against a 5-6 Pioneer League team with zero scholarships so it isn’t even a FCS win in the scope of bowl eligibility. Really? Somebody would rather have NMSU who got garbage wins against bad programs representing them in a bowl than 8-3 JMU? JB better be burning up the phone lines and quickly!

NMSU bowl hopes

When you look at it that way, it is spectacularly dumb.

Bird of Paradise. Works in the UL athletic department. I forget who exactly, I wanna say Matt Sullivan? I don't remember for sure.

What is BoP?

BirdofParadise - well known SBC poster who seems to be a media personality with connections to Louisiana. Usually dead right on all things SBC conference wise.

He also thinks Centeio is one most likely picks for SBC Off POY and/or overall POY

That is just BS and flat-out sets a very bad precedent. Never been done before to my knowledge.

I know I have given you guys $hit all year, and will still continue, as long as you stay delusional fans.

but....

In the bowl scenario, I'm actually really pulling for you guys to get in one. Something like the cure or Myrtle bowl against a MAC champion would be very cool and compelling to watch. Besides, it would really help the SB in the Bowl Challenge Cup for the conference with the most Bowl wins. Hopefully, your admin does what it can to get you a waiver this year.

Most importantly it would be more $$$ to share with the other SBC schools. For that reason I'd rather see App St get in with the two FCS games than NMSU.

Sounds like JMU turned down a chance to play NMSU this weekend.

Suspect they wanted us to travel to their stadium for little or no payment. It’s less likely we would have turned down a home game. The financials would have to work for both teams.

Unless it's an actual bowl game that earns money for us and the conference, there's zero benefit to play NMSU. NMSU probably wants the game there, which means we would have to pay for our travel for a game that means nothing. No thank you.
It's a shame they couldn't play the SJSU game, but they only won 5 games. And of the 5 games they played, they only beat one team that was even good- Liberty. The rest:
Hawaii 3-10
New Mexico 2-10
UMESS 1-11
Lamar 1-10 in FCS

Does that resume deserve a bowl game??? Hell no.

Yes they were looking for home game which we are not going to do as he noted they wanted a home game for their seniors.

We get nothing out of it by playing the game. If NCAA had said winner gets a bowl then I’m sure we would have been ready and willing to play.

Yep. There's no way they were scheduling us for a "W". Perhaps if they were paying us bowl dollars we would have taken it, but aside from that, no thanks.
We would have been 30+ point favs on the road.
And let's be honest. NMSU was not going to beat San Jose St. So the fact that they are saying they should be considered above 5-7 programs is ridiculous. Their wins are about as garbage as they get.

LOL , how "good" Liberty is debatable also, especially after losing to NMSU and VT. Most of their schedule/opponents ended up being weak sauce this year, even with a couple big names. There are quite a few fcs teams better than VT and NMSU.

Completely agree, but at least they won more than 3 games.
There's been rumors of Freese leaving so I bet that distraction could have played a role in them losing. Getting beat by NMSU is nothing to be proud of.

they might be stuck with freese, Auburn fans want nothing to do with him. There's reports he's done some unethical crap with students at LU also that is being investigated.

Liberty/McCaw/Freeze are all becoming toxic. They made poor choices.

That is juicy.
Has anyone seen the team on the practice field today? Regular season games could be scheduled for this Saturday or next Saturday.

If they want a win to get bowl eligible, their best chance was lost when Tech said no.
