Thanks for the links. Best on what happened to his brother and Grant Gunnell, if he makes a pro team I feel sorry for the guy starting ahead of him. lol

Should we donate money so that semi-pro kids on full scholarship to college with a stipend can make some more money or should we donate to a charity that helps those who are struggling to eat and keep a roof over their head this winter. For those who can't do both what is your advice? - asking for a friend.

I'm not here to debate ethics with you. Everyone should make their own decisions about those sorts of things.

But if someone is interested in helping the Memphis Tigers basketball and football teams, subscribing to the 901 Fund is the best way they can help.

I'm being facetious of course but college football and men's basketball is morphing into semi-pro sports right in front of our eyes. Pretty soon if you count all the benefits they get they will be making more than most of the fans in the stands.

It's not a good look.

Buy tickets
Pay for parking and concessions
Give to the Highland Hundred
Give for facilities
Give for scholarships
Give for the stipend
and oh yeah, give to the NIL or I'll go play for someone who will......

I don't think the NIL was supposed to be / envisioned to be a legal slush fund to pay out to all the players. it was going to be a way for the kids who were really good to be able to profit from doing advertisements and appearances.

I have always been told donating to charities is a bad thing. Most of the money goes to the charity and very little actually makes it to those in need.

According to those two it won’t ever be enough to have a conference championship winning team. It’ll be “our fault” when the team doesn’t win. Give til it hurts or I’ll kill ya !!!

how bout just give something? I assume you can aford $9.01 per month?

If we had 5,000 fans giving that much we might get some momentum and pick up some big money from another source...

You do have to be careful but there are websites that track all the major charities. I don't support any that pass on less than 85% to the people / group they are collecting for. There are a lot of dishonest scammers out there for sure so you do need to do your homework.

That seems a bit punitive. You gotta pay people to do the work these days. I would go with 70%, but I do agree in principle.
