Not a chance. They think of us the same way we think of UAB

I like UAB, always have from Watson Brown and Gene Bartow days.

I agree about the lost natural rivals, but their current reality is also being pretty consistent in the top 20-25 in athletic revenue.

That's true. At least they have power 5 money and a Heisman winner. The NIL has resurrected Kentucky basketball.

I don't think I could say one bad year for Kentucky bball is enough to say they resurrected. When I think of resurrected I think of what Calipari did for Memphis. As for Payne at Louisville, he might be adding to the list of former NBA players that struggle coaching at their alma mater.

Resurrected? Good grief lol

I’d say Cal resuscitated us. If he’d have resurrected us then we’d have never had those terrible Tubby years.

I always liked the rivalry because they took it seriously. I hated them, but with respect. The atmosphere in their gym, especially in the mid to late 2000s was intense!!!

We are super lucky we got past UAB on the way to the F4 in 1985. They had the upper hand for most of the game and especially at the end

Yeah really. Memphis basketball wasn't dead when Cal showed up. Stumbling a little bit sure. But not in the basement either.

It was dead for sure.

They are terrible. And the coach looks like he has no clue what he's doing.

Yeah, they had 13 points at the half and finished with 32. Louisville hires him because he was Wagner's godfather. That didn't seem to help

Different times for sure. He was the first coach here that actually made some good money. Bartow left because Murphy went cheap. Dana had to do paint commercials and charge for cokes at his camp lol (sarcasm). Larry never made much either. And Tic well nuff said there.

The Calipari coaching tree hasn’t turned out so well. Even worse than the Coach K tree.

Not good at all. Unless I'm missing something, Pastner is by far the most successful, and he was only with Cal for 1 year.

Barbee did well at UTEP but stunk it up at Auburn. Not sure if that makes him that bad or Bruce Pearl that good

They have already accomplished 25% of that goal and it's early.

Looking at their schedule... having already lost the 3 early season cupcakes scheduled, I only see 2.. at best 3 games they would be favored to win. Florida A&M and Lipscomb being the only two for sure, maybe Western Kentucky at home. But I dont see an AAC game they are likely to win unless they fire this coach mid season.

Kenny Payne is trying to run that Calipari "offense" without horses. He's swung and missed on every recruit he THOUGHT he'd get. He's not going to win the Derby witha stable full of Chris Mack's donkeys.

Hard to compete with Cal and Kentucky's resources. Just shows exactly how special Penny is!

Fact that he didn't get Juanny has to hurt him to the core. Loserville had to think that was a given when they hired him. Connection to Milt and Nike and still couldn't get it done. #H82CIT
