HUGE win for the Volleyball team in the CAAT!! 7th seeded Tribe beat 2nd seeded Hofstra 3-2.

Lost the first two sets but then dominated sets 3 & 4. Then hung tough and won the fifth set. First time even in the tourney since 2015.

Pretty amazing really when you consider how close Huge came to killing the program. Congrats to them!

RE: Volleyball
Another super exciting match! Unfortunately, the Tribe loses in 5 sets. The final set was 16-14 and it was UD 14-8 but the Tribe stopped 6 match points to tie it at 14...but just couldn’t close it out. The two previous matches with Delaware also went to 5 sets so W&M is obviously right there.

The future is bright because many of the Tribe’s best players are Freshman and Sophomores. Ryann Love made the All-Rookie team and she didn’t even play because of a concussion.

Congrats on a great year!

Coach Doyle resigned to pursue other opportunities.

I am sorry to hear that since the Tribe made great strides this year... but the larder is more fully stocked for the next coach than it was for Doyle when he came.

It's a bad situation though. I'm pretty sure we won't get someone of Doyle's status at the salaries we are willing to pay. I really hope that Mann is figuring out what to do with the mess that we're in. It doesn't seem a) simple or b) immediate. We need a whale of a donor or we need to make tough decisions. Allowing these sports to barely get by will just extend the inevitable.

Get rid of volleyball and give the scholarships to women divers to complete the swim team. Either that or scholarship crew or sailing.

Any divers would have nowhere to practice or compete; besides, we have won numerous championships lately without even having a diving team. Also, why start any new sports from scratch when volleyball has recruited well and made great strides this year? Maybe one of the current assistants can continue what Doyle started.

My question would be did he resign because of the inevitable cutting of the program? Whether now or the near future, sports cuts are coming. Football is underfunded and it isn't going anywhere.

Our current situation with Title IX makes it unlikely that we can cut any women sports. The harsh truth is we are underfunded and will keep losing coaching talent

Don't forget your adverb here, we are badly underfunded (in just about every sport), at present.
