No room left at the beach. People fighting, doing drugs, and cops closing down beaches. Have to head up to ludington or further north to get some good beach time now.

You can see on there that Hudsonville/Jenison/Zeeland is still the most conservative area in the state, very religious area. But the moderates along the shoreline are turned off by MAGA.

Same was true 20-25 years ago when the shoreline was more conservative.

RE: Interesting....Lake Michigan Shoreline turning BLUE!
lol, Muskegon County & downtown Holland have been liberal a long time. I'm not as familiar w/ area south of Holland, tho. Also I'd be interested in a map from, say the 2018 election. One map alone tells you nada & is cherrypicking the data. Is this a trend? Or do these counties swing like this from time to time? Or do they usually look like this? You'd have to compare it to 2020, 2018, 2016 (I know you guys don't like that year), even 2014. Note these counties also voted for Dixon & Red Reps too except for Muskegon & Kalamazoo of course which have been liberal, & Kent, which is a bell-weather. Some Blue turn that is!

You s/ listen to people who actually live here.

RE: Interesting....Lake Michigan Shoreline turning BLUE!
Some of that is thanks to redistricting. The 2010 map the Michigan GOP drew gave them the state House despite democrats getting 54% in 2018.

Thanks to Proposal 2 in 2018, Redistricting is now non-partisan in Michigan. 4 Dems, 4 Republicans, & 5 Independents decide the districts. 61% of Michiganders voted for this Proposal. First redistricting under this system was in 2020. Democracy is a great thing.

Except it isn't a democracy it's a Republic. 03-snooty

Seriously, I wish every state was like that. Smart move by Michigan to put that proposal out there.

I encourage everyone to listen to This American Life’s recent podcast titled “Map maker map maker make me a map”. It is about gerrymandering and how Ohio tried to fix it and failed.
