RE: Week 12 MAC Football Gamethread
How does BUGs lose 40-6 to Kent State, and a week later beat UT 42-35?

I can’t believe CMU-WMU is on ESPNU while EMU-KENT is on ESPN2. Not that Central Western is a huge nationally know rivalry, but come on now.

That amazing Bowling Green-Toledo game was on ESPNU as well.
The preference here may be for additional big markets. The Eastern Michigan-Kent State game is going to touch Detroit and Cleveland, whereas the rivalry game is strictly a Michigan thing.

They are a very inconsistent team. They've made great strides this season after years of horrific play. It's not hard to fall back into old habits.
UT is THE rivalry game. You TRULY have to throw out the record books.

Kent States defense decided to show up, plus they got some injured players back. Even with their Swiss cheese D they would’ve likely had another W or two if they weren’t missing certain players.

The MAC makes little sense to me with many decisions they make. I just try not to get too irritated.

I assume ESPN made these calls, not the MAC.

I mean everything. MACtion, uniforms, turning down schools, accepting schools, rivalry games mid week, Black Friday games, etc etc.

Got some very windy, snowy DeKalb-like weather going on for NIU-Miami game. NIU is built for playing in this type of weather. Don't think Miami is so much.
10-0 NIU

All NIU in 1st qtr, weather clears up and all Miami in 2nd qtr. Miami has gotten pretty good field position on many of their starting drives.
NIU not even attempting to throw the ball.

Wow, CBS Sports actually talks about MAC games at halftime.
Could care less about playing on ESPNU on Tuesdays and listening to halftime shows about SEC.

RE: Week 12 MAC Football Gamethread
If Miami doesn’t win this game i would fire Martin at end of season. Miami has basically had an average starting field position of their own 48-yd line.
NIU really has no business winning this game. 0-for-8 on 3rd downs, miserable starting field position all game, and a bunch of special teams snafus.

Miami won 29-23.
I'd probably still fire Martin though.
I wouldn't be mad if we fired Hammock.

WMU pulls off the upset at CMU, giving the Bronco faithful something to cheer about in this rather forgettable season (all while denying CMU a bowl game).

I actually would disagree with that idea. I think Miami is well suited to bad weather games. W e probably have the best kicking game in the MAC and field position is really important in these games, plus with Gabbert out these conditions seem to suit Aveon Smith very well.

I've just never seen Miami be a great running team (NIU is top rushing offense in MAC). Usually you all have great QB passers. You all definitely won the field position game. Your avg starting field position was midfield and our's was the 10-yd line (hence one of the safeties since we were backed up on 2-yd line after that punt). You all definitely won special teams play.
