And now it’s 17-17 with 4:14 left in Q3. Gotta get something going on offense, can’t keep gong 3 and out and putting the D right back out there as they’re getting gassed. Who will step up and make a play? I’m guessing at this rate we’ll have to get that from the D.

Definitely a big drop off from Schlee. Hopefully kargman can get a completion and build some confidence.

He threw 6 so far and the only good one was a short one that was dropped. Maybe they can go back to that short swing pass to build the rhythm/confidence.

Running RPOs now is a total waste, they don’t work if there is no threat of the various options, the delay is counterproductive to what we need and ends up looking like a draw play all blown up. Need the D to get a big play and/or score for us.

Penalties are killing us! Was that a face mask or did he grab him by the ear hole? Now down 24-17 and fading…

Need to hit up the transfer portal for a veteran QB for quality depth so we’re not throwing guys out there to the wolves when they’re far from ready.

That is clearly not a TD, had he kicked the pylon like the announcer claimed it would’ve moved and it never did.

Flash Fans, sorry to say it, but we do not have what we thought we had. This team is not disciplined and the offensive play calling is questionable. Just watch what the EMU coach is doing with his team as far as game flow is concerned. Just my frustrated opinion as a fan.

Not making excuses but the game fizzled as soon as Schlee came out. He was moving the ball, 150 yards in the air and 45 on the ground while creating space for Cooper. Then he gets hurt and we can’t even finish the drive. The difference is in the backup QBs, which are light years apart. There’s was a starter, played at Mizzou and Troy before starting at EMU and losing his job when he got hurt while beating Arizona, ours went to the prom a few months ago and was pressed into duty because he was the best option. Missing your top 3 players (Schlee, Cephas and Boldenj would doom anyone, and we’re missing more than just them.

Losing Schlee was the difference. We win the game if he doesn't get injured. Oh well, injuries happen. Let's just not blame them on our buy games.

RE: 2022 Football Week 11 vs EMU
I honestly don't see us winning if Colin was in. The last two home games looked like the old days. The stupid Browns-like fouls, dropped passes, blown coverage, and penalties. And honestly, EMU did not impress me.
Dustin was the only thing going for us during our peak. He was able to score 50 if the defense gave up 45. He was able to avoid an excessive 3-out drives that gave fuel for our defense. Lewis' value went up with Dustin and might have gone down when he left.
Don't talk about Flash Fast if we can't get command the first down.
Don't talk about "the middle 8" if the 3rd quarter is our worst part of the game.
Don't call them Soul Collectors if we watch receivers grab wide open passes.
Our defense really only penetrated Long Island & BG this year. We were lucky Akron was willing to throw interceptions. OU was a lucky win too.
Out of the teams that won 6 games this year, I don't see how we can't be one of them. It's sad not to be able to win 6 games. Teams we beat handily will be going bowling this year. Of course a lot of that has to due with 3 games of death. Still, we should have beat Ball State and won against EMU. Tonight should be our 6th win.

We were up 17-7 and Schlee was driving us down for another score before halftime and we get the ball back on the kickoff. Up 24-7, 20-7 or even 17-7 with Schlee and we win this game hands down.

I guess we'll never know. The 40 yard run was not negated by a holding call on the QB. Even had we won tonight, we likely would have not won next week and finish with 5 wins.
I honestly think I'm more upset about the Ball State game. And our schedule... effing hate our schedule.
Now I'm hopping over to basketball threads until next summer. Damn NE Ohio football.

QB depth was very clearly the difference in this one.

I'm disappointed. I suppose I expected too much. Well, at least we're better than when we'd win 0, 1 or 2 games and frequently get hammered by other MAC teams. I'm sure Lewis is no longer on anyone's "short list", so he'll have time to improve the situation.

Agree QB play was the difference!
EMU-Transfer that won the starting job than lost it because of injury.
KSU-Staring QB injured, 2nd team QB injured earlier out for season, 3rd team depth chart was on the field playing. I doubt very few MAC teams go 3 deep at QB without a drop off.
For the Portal in off season good luck if Colin returns, players transfer for the opportunity to start at a position.

Agree with most of the comments about the offense and injuries, but wow was the defense soft in the second half. Awful...

They were, but keep in mind they were out there nonstop due to the offense not getting anything going. The game Time of Possession was EMU 40 minutes to our 20 minutes. Injuries led to depth issues which puts reserves out there without having their stamina where it should be and being out there seemingly non-stop. Our offense did the hurry up stuff they always do, but the referees hold up the play to allow the defense to swap in and out, they took their time doing that (even the announcers mentioned it). Their offense didn't exactly run the hurry up, but they would line up and chew up the play clock (refs not holding up play) so our guys weren't getting off the field for reserves like they could've been. No excuses, just my observation that might provide a little explanation.

Possessions after Schlee went out (~1 minute left in 1st half):
-0:21 Punt
-1:59 Punt
-0:54 Punt
-2:29 Punt
-0:53 Punt
-3:10 TD

EMU possessions in same time period
-3:34 TD
-4:08 FG
-5:52 TD
-6:02 TD
-0:39 (ran out clock to end game)

Great points.....and no doubt, the D spent too much time on the field. Last night was just sort of disappointing, all around.
