Charter Bus to Detroit?
Has anyone heard about charter bus transportation to Ford Field for the MAC Championship? It was super convenient the last time UT qualified. Just curious :)

Our bus passed the arena two or three times. We could see it but somehow couldn't get there. About had a mutiny to just let us walk the rest of the way. I Don't really remember much about the game other than it was long because of all the commercials. I remember the nice shin-dig Alumni put up.

And was alcohol involved in your missing memory?

Lol, Maybe a bit. Another nice thing about the bus. Probably more about the grey hairs.

Tickets through UT, I'm almost never happy. I might prefer to see what I can find on-line. Price point for driving, parking, freedom and when to leave and where to go, vs. bus probably favors a bus for us.

RE: Charter Bus to Detroit?
I'd drive down to Toledo to take a charter bus back up to Detroit....well, maybe not.

This MACC game has been scheduled the same day as Noel Night in Detroit for about the past decade. That used to be a big deal, then there was a shooting involved on Noel Night - and it died (no pun intended) since then. Went in 2020 when the Covid scare had died down a bit, but there was little going on related to Noel Night. Don't know how it went last year. May want to consider driving up and then walking around Detroit area (it's in Midtown so you might drive out from Ford Field and try to park near the DIA) Biggest part of it was going to the DIA and the College for Creative Studies where they have some pretty cool stuff for sale. Pretty sure the DIA is free on Noel Night. Could see the exhibits and they had several choirs singing carols. There are heated tents with food and drinks. That might be worth staying around for after the game. Most of the action is between around 4pm to 7pm.

I always found it very safe to walk around that area. Plenty of people around and cops are visible and stationed throughout the blocks along with cruisers driving around. Just don't go walking around and thinking you know a shortcut to get somewhere...

Here's a link to the site that shows the schedule. https://www.noelnight.org/

I leave Toledo at.... around 8:30 - 9am
I park at.... Downtown near Ford Field

Before game I... tailgate or go to one of the restaurants near the stadium for a brunch. In 2017 we went to Elwoods and it was packed - mostly with Toledo fans. They open a number of places early because of the noon kick-off. They didn't open gates to get inside Ford Field until an hour before the game - and that turned into a bit of circle jerk since I was picking up my tickets at will call. No one seemed to know what was going on or that I could go to the Will Call area that was only 10 feet from where they closed off the the entrance to the stadium. Also had some kind of "fun-run" going on in the morning - so a lot of the streets were closed off.

After game I... Get in car and drive to mid-town to park near DIA. Unless you don't mind walking and want to venture out into the downtown area trying to get to midtown (maybe 1 1/2 miles). But then there's the walk back to the car still parked downtown....Likely not many will want to do it if Toledo loses, but could be nice for a group of people to do. Could also hang out around Ford Field, go to the casino, Hockeytown for post-game meal, etc. Also a Wahlburgers (never been to one) near Ford Field. Plenty of other places to go just to soak in the win...

"fun run" RIGHT! that's what messed up the bus.

It's the parking I hate. The decisions. I want to hit the Ambassador and see a big ol sign, "eastisbest....follow the arrows. Park here."

DIA is on Woodward I think (without googling). I see some sort of mass-transit line when I drive down Woodward, might be an option from the field to DIA and back.
