DDJ was great again. He's too good for this level of opponent. He took a few bad shots, but when he is in rhythm, he is hitting.

Nolley looks like he's toying with these teams. Very excited to see him as the year goes on. He's an amazing passer. He's really good on isos. Just very smooth.

Hensley continues to impress. He's big and can move and is getting more comfortable. Can it continue?

Davenport was hitting and hunting. MAW seemed a bit more assertive. Ody came off the bench and held his own. Had a bunch of rebounds.

Lahkin got at least 2 and maybe 3 just stupid over-the-back fouls. He's gotta stay on the court. He was instrumental in closing the game out. That's 2 games in which he's made a ridiculous behind-the-back pass. This one was amazing.

Ezikpe barely played. I think he didn't get in in the second half. Not good. Phinisee made a couple good plays, but he gives them zero offense. It appears Wes likes thim tho.

Any word on Skillings? He left with a leg or ankle injury. Didn't appear too serious, but he never got back in the game.

I am interested to see how they play against a real team. Wes is still giving a ton of guys serious minutes and using weird combinations. And that's without Newman.

Ezikpe played the second half, but not well and got pulled quickly. Wes said post-game that he led us in scoring in the Purdue scrimmage. Seems like he still has hope Ezikpe can improve and I do think he's got more talent than he has shown on offense. His defense and rebounding though have a long way to go and are what will keep him off the court (especially if Ody can keep rebounding like he did tonight as Vik's backup).

Rob grabbed 7 rebounds. He's very good on defense as well. Wes likes that. But yeah, at some point teams are going to stop defending him and say either show something on offense or we're playing 5v4 defense. I'm not sure Phinisee has anything to show that will prevent that.

Skillings Wes said they were going to know more after X-rays and such. He's hoping it's just a sprain and he will be back quickly.

I agree we are a different team with Lakhin out there. Last year he could just go hard and if he committed rebounding fouls it was no big deal. Now he has to learn to be a bit more careful and know when he needs to back off.

Perhaps, Clifton. Hard to tell. CSU looked rotten in person. So did EKU today.

Not sure what they list him at but that EKU team rolled out a guy who was perhaps no more than a legit 6'5" or 6'6" for the jump against Big Vic. Won the tip to Nolley, one quick pass underneath and a layup for a 2-0 lead 4 seconds in and I knew all I needed to know about the level of this opponent.

NKU should hopefully be more of an opponent with a pulse but I admit I am not familiar with what they have returning.

I have to admit I haven’t made it to the past couple gameS. I have been nursing a bout of bronchitis. I did not like the fact we were up by 24 today and let them back in it.

As was said, we have one more tune up game until we play a damn good team. That's when we'll know how we really stack up. I'm not trying to read too much into the games thus far because it seems the team loses interest/intensity when they build up big leads. At least in the game today they finished strong after giving up the big lead - won by nearly 20 points.

ESPN has us only at 55% to win NKU game

I won't be able to make it to Highland Heights but I hope lots of Bearcat fans do. Is it possible to make it more like what UC road trips to Tulane used to look like--big Bearcat cheering section to lift our team?

RE: Eastern KY BB game
We started out great, aggressively crashing the boards, and built a lead with a bunch of 2nd chance points. We seemed to relax near the end of the 1st half, and then EKU came out in the 2nd and nailed a bunch of threes to tighten it up. We seemed to wake up in the last 7 or 8 minutes and started turning them over and crashing the boards again.

IMO, there were stretches where we looked a lot better than last year, but it's hard to truly read much into it given the level of competition. Definitely an improvement over the CSU game though. The NKU game should tell us more, and we'll definitely know what we have after Maui.

My main takeaways so far is Hensley looks vastly improved, DDJ may be the conference player of the year, and Davenport is going to continue to drive me crazy.

Also, Oguama had his best game as a Bearcat. If he continues to rebound like yesterday it would be huge for this team.

Bolded, wholeheartedly agree on your assessment of these three players. Hensley appears to possess the "it factor" in terms of having a nose for the ball and fearlessly taking it to the hoop to score or draw the foul. This team has needed that from someone in the front court and he has the skillset to deliver that, at least against the teams we've seen so far.
