Double header idea - attempt to boost profile on national level.
This is mostly for my fellow Bobcats and our Neighbors the Louisiana Rajun Cajuns but others could come up with similar idea. Made this post on our own message board and too lazy to rewrite it so if it seems like I’m talking directly to my own fan base that’s why.

Hear me out. Once UT joins the SEC and if/when they start playing LSU every year we piggy back off that and have a double header.
An opportunity to try and put Texas State and Louisiana Rajun Cajuns in a more national spot light and an attempt to get more fan engagement from the 2%-ers that get infatuated with “big brothers” right down the road.
Could do this with a double header, or one at 12 eastern/11 central, and other one at night game spot at 6/6:30. OR one plays Friday evening and other game played on Saturday. Example Friday night game bobcats @ Louisiana played at Cajun field in Lafayette. Saturday UT at LSU in Baton Rouge. Hour drive.
Return trip, Friday night at bobcat stadium, Saturday at DKR with LSU UT. Would have to get espn on board to help promote it and put together. Could sell tickets as a package deal as well for traveling fan bases. Maybe every 3rd year - neutral site game in Houston at Texans stadium selling tickets as double headers.
Could call it The State Vs the States or something of that nature.

Cute idea, but don’t like the idea of being the undercard to the main event. We are building our own identity. No reason to put ourselves in the shadow of those programs.

Yeah that was my thinking. Although I wouldn't be against JMU/ODU doing similar in a snarky and smart assed way taking shots at UVA/VT and hyping up our game as the actual two best programs in the state. I would be very against doing anything like that as an undercard.

I can’t imagine that would spark fan interest away from LSU/Texas.

Us playing on Friday night? Can’t imagine any “high school” jokes would come of that.

The idea would be to target the unfortunate amount of alums we have that align with or follow UT/LSU more than their own alma mater. Neither really need to spark interest of fans from them. Although I’m willing to bet many families have plenty of members belonging to both universities.

Maybe it's a hopeless approach when you're competing with the SEC, but I personally just feel like an approach of "screw them, we're the team you should be supporting" is better than the "hey you can still cheer for them while we're your little pet 'small school' that you also cheer for!"

I heard a pretty funny exchange on Saturday in Norfolk. You get lots and lots of "Go Dukes!" back and forth when passing other JMU fans on the road or just out and about... On my way up to my seats there was a group in front of me with three people in purple then one older lady in plain non-sports clothes. A guy on the aisle went "Go Dukes!" to each as they went by and got a "Go Dukes!" in return until that woman. She kinda hesitated then laughed and went "I almost said go Hokies! Wrong game!" and he said "What the HELL is a Hokie?" 03-lmfao

Now that's the attitude I like towards our little brothers in the inferior burg.

While I absolutely agree with that, getting extra fans in the stands to fill ip our 30k+ stadium and Louisiana’s 41k+ stadium doesn’t hurt
