1923 was the year that the "Rockets" name was coined.

This is part of what I love about our new AD. He is updating the look and feel of everything to make our brand stronger.

I am not quite in a position to afford this yet, but once i get done with paying for college educations I can see it.

Everything is possible if you put forth effort.

Being honest, the University as a whole should have thought of it first. Has a kind of swagger to it. I'll give this a look.

The way it's done at my undergrad, give a certain minimum (not really that high, maybe $1000) for a certain number of years and you're permanently vested into the "council." Mostly that means you've earned the right to receive more requests for donations, lol They set up a nice website, makes it easy to split and direct donations to different funds. Minimum to start a fund keeps going up though. Was $25k, which is modest. Now 50k.

Having been involved in some meetings surround the 150th Annoversary stuff, event hat snuck up on some people in administration. It is good to get new blood who isn't a 15-20 "veteran" of sitting in chairs and not having to hustle/work for it.

I'll join right after my next pay check is deposited on the 30th. NP

Seriously - I would consider it only after a discussion with the UT personnel that would be handling the gift.

It's a good idea. Blair is making his mark. I like the new blood.

Go Rockets!

I'm not seeing anything here that wasn't available previously, other than a name. People giving that amount aren't easily fooled.

A fund raiser has a target and/or a reward structure. I'm not seeing either here.

Quote:While the 1923 Society is philanthropic in nature, members enjoy unique and specialized stewardship opportunities throughout the year. Giving supporters a more meaningful engagement and an inside look into Toledo Athletics. These opportunities may include VIP experience and events, exclusive gear, tax deductibility based on giving level, and special recognition of support.

No specifics, let alone promises here. A name in a booklet maybe, same as any other donation. I think they need to up their game a bit to make this work. Empty promises will offend.

RE: 1923 Society
Agree that Bryan B has a tall order of getting an additional $10M infused into the Athletic Dept budget annually. I am a little confused that this might be canabalizing the Rocket Club? What is the difference? Do they want folks to "join" both? After your pledge is met (5 years) are you then not in the 1923 Club? I am guessing that there will be an increase in cost for Rocket Club here soon. Cost to get into Lot 10, premium seats for MBB and FB will be going up; It is bound to happen especially if contract extensions are coming down the line for JC if all continues to goes well.

New day in the athletic dept for sure.
