I aint mad at it, TBH. What would you have been OK with? $1M per school and no weeknight games? Wasn't going to happen, in my opinion, unless the conference stuck with hard to find streaming platforms. Monetarily, the difference between $1M and $750K is worth it to be on mainstream platforms.

Just my opinion, I guess.

Got to build a product that TV execs want to buy. Right now we don’t have that with a bunch of new schools…..so the solution is to build it.

Man I really feel for you guys. A Tuesday night home game vs. Kennesaw State on CBS Sports Network would be so demoralizing with what WKU has accomplished. I guess the basketball TV package is an improvement at least and I’m assuming they’ll all be linear CBSSN or ESPN+ which makes things easier.

I hope the SBC calls y’all home

Why are you bashing KSU and not another school? Who else should C-USA get that is within there footprint that is better at football that has the budget to move up?

Nothing against KSU. Just a new add from FCS. WKU goes from being a top tier CUSA team hosting established championship level programs Marshall, UAB, and UTSA to Tuesday night games with fresh FCS call-ups.

I guess I used KSU specifically because I was familiar with JSU and SHSU before being added but had really no knowledge of KSU. I didn’t even know y’all were in Georgia.

WKU has been competitive with the top end of everyone who left and will now be relegated to early weeknight games against fresh FCS call ups making less than half of what UAB and UTSA will be making on better network coverage and time slots. It sucks fie them and their fans. They deserve better. I’d hope the conference would prioritize WKU, LaTech, and Middle to get the Friday home slots at the least

Brett McMurphy - Conference USA’s new 5-year media rights deal w/CBS Sports Network & ESPN, starting in 2023, will earn each school at least $800,000/year sources told
@ActionNetworkHQ
This is nearly double $425,000/year each C-USA school currently receives.

I’m so sorry WKU.

According to this link it said that the MAC schools receive 600,000 yearly, which is less then C-USA new deal.

https://www.on3.com/news/conference-tv-d...-football/

The MAC payout is approximately $833,000 per school.

CUSA is $800,000, not $750,000, as previously reported. So the MAC makes peanuts more.

This sums up how I feel too. I know a lot of school’s in the new CUSA will be happy overall. Stability, no more Stadium or FB (I actually like Stadium), games for a bigger national audience. Those are positives.

But WKU could’ve had that in the MAC, but with a slightly bigger deal and a group of schools that fit them culturally. MTSU as well. I was rooting for it to happen but MTSU shut the door on that offer last minute. Just feel bad for em. There was already attendence issues. How are fans gonna be enticed to show up for these Tuesday/Wednesday games now?

Why are fans of schools not part of this deal chiming in about how sorry they are for those of us that are part of the deal? I would say this is about as good as we could have gotten. Take that “sorry” crap over to the SBC and AAC boards. This is a huge win and 90% of CUSA 4.0 fans would agree.

Not only that but if MT and wkcc would have gone to the MAC the deal would not have increased and would have been divided by two more teams making it less than $750K. Plus they would be playing in places like Buffalo and northern Michigan. The fans from the clown college to the north are too ignorant to even understand what a favor we did for them. At least in the short term anyway with the cash they raking in off the defections and forfeited revenues

RE: TV Deal...
Who cares about CUSA if we're scheduling games on Saturdays when the SEC is playing? We've been doing that and nothing has been gained with no tv, just ESPN+. Now we get ESPN TV coverage as well. I love weeknight games. Very little competition and will help us gain exposure.

Way better than the BeIn/facebook crap we used to have and much better than what we've recently had. The Sun belt and MAC play during the week and no one bashes them. Sheesh, this is the best scenario I could hope for. The AAC gets Saturday games on ESPN for now but that contract is gonna change with UCF, Cinci and Houston gone. Mountain West does plenty of Thursday and Friday games. I like this a lot.

He was going to ***** and complain, no matter what it was....

its still 100% better than being in the MAC. This person conference of choice is the MAC but mainly because he lives in Lexington. It's not like he going to any of the road games even if Western played in the MAC. Or maybe its as simple as he's the type of person that is always afraid of being left behind. I dont know but I do know its netter than playing football or basketball in the MAC.

The MAC is the most deadened conference that no one outside of Western wanted to join. Which would have been another kneejerk reaction by the Western AD. An AD that gets 1 out of every 5 or 10 decisions correct.

So yes, thank you MTSU, for having the sense to not jump at the first and most ugly girl just because your current one left you.

The dates are not ideal but one of the most exciting and attended game while playing in the SBC came on a Tuesday, Oct, night vs ULL

No one prefers the weeknight games but what did people expect? We get a raise and much more exposure. That is what the schools wanted and they were willing to do the weeknights to get it.

This deal is better in all other regards. Does anyone remember that the conference was almost raided out of existance?

What was the number that the five remaining teams were to receive? About $5 million (plus not having to pay the MAC’s $5M entrance fee, or be tethered to them for two decades by waiving our grant of rights.

You can’t fix stupid.

Even if the MAC makes a $100K more per year on TV, it would take 100 years just to break even on that move. Oh and we would be stuck playing in the north.

Agree. I don’t even thinks it’s close. It’s much better than I expected.

I think they could have said we’ll put you on but the value is exposure plus a $50K stipend a year and we probably would have had no choice but to take it. I’m definitely surprised by the bottom line number.

Agreed. I don't like it losing a saturday game, but it's possible it is only one depending on your bye week, if you have another ooc game in Oct, and if the other two games are split home and away. Oct is by far preferable over Nov for weather reasons, I'd think, so it feels like a one up on the Mac there.

The MAC has empty stadiums in cold weather. And it's the conference you go to where you are stuck for life, and no chance of ever advancing. It has worse basketball and baseball by far than the new CUSA.

That's pretty much it. A few WKU fans were ready to complain no matter what, and then I see Southern Miss and other Sun Belt fans ripping the deal or poking fun without even barely reading it. Most people though seem satisfied. I am.

They are really gonna be hurting when they lose that Tuesday night home game vs KSU.
But I do understand all the flack. KSU is the last man up after all.
