All in all, this looks like a better deal than the last one.

Money is competitive with MAC, and it is better for the fans to have the TV on just two channels/networks.

It is IMO terrible for the football student-athletes, with all the mid-week games. But who cares about them?

Most reliable number I saw was $1-1.2 million per school, but there are numbers all over the place. This article indicates their deal isn't too much more than 750k per school.

Brett McMurphy said it was $8 million. I've seen $10 million quoted several times. I think Forbes is just wrong. $10 million is also consistent with this article suggesting the 750k was close to the MAC ($10 million/12=833k). That $10 million was the average for the 2017-2027 contract. ACC and SEC numbers for ESPN in the Forbes article look wrong as well. The figures for the other networks and other conferences looks reasonable compared to other reports.

Well, some on this board suggested CUSA would get coupons for McDonalds in return for getting exposure on some obscure religious cable channel on Sunday morning at 2am. So this is a bit better.

This MTSU fan will take it. Solid deal. And I'm 100 percent fine with Tue and Wed night games. The students can attend and will, I hope, enjoy.

Army and UConn play their home games on CBS Sports Network. I don't see the MAC pushing either of them out.

There will be no Monday games. College football doesn’t even run on Mondays outside of Labor Day or reschedules.

It's been a long time since the NCAA and college administrators actually cared about the student-athlete's academics.

So what's better if you are cUSA... being the only game on TV on a weeknight, or playing on saturday and being totally buried under the avalanche of P5 (and 'other 4') games playing simultaneously?

If I was struggling to make a place at the table, I think I'd take the former. Will get a LOT more casual TV viewers tuning in then they would on a Saturday (essentially zero). Fans and students will get to the game.

Look at the MAC games that are on tv right now. These games aren’t well attended. It’s more difficult for people with early hour jobs or young kids to make it out to the games. This deal is only for tv purposes; and yes, CUSA will get some exposure playing these games rather than playing on ESPN+ on Saturdays.

This. The only reason I've ever seen a MAC football game is because they are not only A) on TV, but B) are the ONLY games on TV those nights.

Hell, linear network aside, I'd watch a game on ESPN+ if it's the only game on a Wednesday and I have beers in the fridge.

This is a good deal for CUSA all things considered. Money went up with inflation, and they are getting better exposure for weekday linear and weekend ESPN+. Beats the hell out of Facebook and Stadium.

CBSSN is said to have the Tier 1. So I assume that means they get first pick each week/times lot but I don't know for sure

The dollar figure quoted was $750k per school which is behind the MAC and Sunbelt but competitive with them.

CBS SN also gets all the big championship games: football, m/w basketball, softball, baseball

What I was thinking was going to happen, have Tuesday and Wed games for October. Probably biggest winner is Sun Belt likely has more Thurs, Friday and Saturday moving forward on the U and ESPN +

Brett McMurphy of the Action Network reported that the deal could earn each school around $800,000 per season. Its a new 5-year media rights deal w/CBS Sports Network & ESPN, starting in 2023-2028. This is nearly double $425,000/year each C-USA school currently receives.

I feel like the MAC is making a strategic mistake moving everything to mid-week. They get exposure then, but on Saturday when most people are paying attention, they aren't even there. They should keep a couple games on Saturday.
