The first rule about the SEC is you do NOT talk about the SEC.
The 2nd rule of the SEC is you DO NOT TALK about the SEC.
You are wrong.
The first rule about the SEC is you Do Not talk about another SEC school's violations.
The second rule about the SEC is you Do Not talk about another SEC school's violations.
The third rule is if you do talk about another school's violations all of your violations will suddenly be reported, your school placed on probation, and your coach fired.
Ask Phil Fulmer how that worked out for him. He had to wait until Mike Slive was dead before he could get hired at Tennessee to do anything.

Ah, good ole Fat Phil!
When decked out in Tennessee orange he was known as the Great Pumpkin! Charlie Brown believed in him!
Regarding the 8-v-9 conference game debate, I'd counter with the 1-vs-2 P5 non-conference game debate. As Josh Pate points out in this "Late Kick Cut" (On CFB's BEST Schedule Format), the IDEAL schedule is 8 conference + 2 P5 non-conference games - but the Big Ten won't even consider that because they would be EXPOSED!
Stop trying to push everyone else to make the same mistake you guys keep making!!!

I started a thread in the fall about how the nine game schedule makes it really hard to show how good a conference is. The Big Ten's OOC performance last year was an absolute embarrassment. Ohio State beat a four-loss Notre Dame team the first week of the season, and the league's next-best win was over Ohio.
But the Big Ten got two teams into the playoff anyway, so why would they ever change?

I have tossed around the idea 4 non-conf (2 vs. P5) and 9 conference games (9th used as conference champions week format) sometime back. Kinda the best of both worlds, but logistics and players playing 13 games was the 2 big pushbacks if I remember correct. I think the CCGs not being mostly standalone (2-3 at a time) might have been another.

I like that idea a lot, but those are some legitimate drawbacks.
Here's another one for you that I got the idea from after reading yours:
Run an 11 game schedule with nine conference games. The weekend that is currently championship weekend you have bonus inter-conference games played at neutral sites that are based on where teams finished during conference play.
Then have the championship games the following weekend.
Essentially, that championship weekend becomes what the bowl season used to be -- with interesting matchups between power conferences -- but we take away the 6 win requirement so we can really get an idea of how these league stack up against each other.

It's not our fault we traveled all the way down to Dixie and Auburn sucked. We tried. We probably scheduled that a bit after Cam's champion$hip and Hei$man...looking for an easy win, I guess.

Pretty funny stuff here.
You know that 2 SEC teams have 2 power-5 teams on their schedule this year. Two.
That means that 2 SEC teams have 10 or more P5 teams on their schedule.
The Big Ten features 13 teams.
You can bring that jab back when the SEC gets up to 10 P5 opponents across the board. (It is a good thing that everyone needs one P5 opponent in the non-con now...the SEC is getting brave! https://twitter.com/SethWEmerson/status/...5826147328)

1. Penn State wussed out of a home and home with Auburn when Bo Jackson was playing in the early 80's. It disappointed my Penn State neighbors who were going to go to the game with us.
2. You can start talking smack about scheduling when somebody besides Ohio State has a pulse up North.
3. Brian Harsin football did suck at Auburn. But then he didn't recruit, in fact his staff left a recruit at the airport in Atlanta. Meaning they didn't pick the kid up. Malfeasance! He believed his staff needed Friday nights off, so no high school games were visited by Auburn recruiters. Apparently, they needed Saturday off too! Auburn should have taken him to court, fired him with cause, and should not have paid him another penny. That one is on the administration and a lame duck AD who was just as bad.

Wow, that's bad! Makes Justin Fuente look like Nick Saban and Urban Meyer rolled into one!

They're already exposed.
So what year is Texas A&M starting to play 2 P5 non-conference games? Virginia Tech has the desire for more P5 games, but I just don't see that sane desire with Texas A&M?
What's there to expose? Penn State has played Alabama and Auburn recently. Wisconsin played LSU, Maryland played Texas, Ohio State played Oklahoma and so on.
