This really stinks. He was definitely the headliner of getting back into town for the Coastal game. Oh well.

Hate to see that, especially since I really felt good about them knocking off UVA.

So...the entire season? There's 3 weeks left.

Too bad for them. Great player. He may be back for their bowl game.

This helps our chances of winning the division, which would be amazing, but we obviously have to get back in gear starting on Saturday.

We lost because we didn't have Toddy; now they may lose because they won't have McCall. Any team that loses a great quarterback just isn't the same team without them.
Take Cunningham from Louisville and they would just be average at best. This is why we will be hitting the portal for a quarterback again.

Even if he can come back, unless they are playing in a NY6 game i can see him packing it in to get ready for the draft

I don't have a problem with that. I do think Barnett is the future, but I think it would be irresponsible to put it all in on a Freshman QB (I suppose he'd be a RS-Fr?).
The transfer portal is a viable option and our coaches know what they want and who would be a good fit for us.
For transfers, the way Centeio transformed under this staff has to put all interested QBs on notice. You can come here and transform your career. Perhaps more importantly, you can come here and actually get noticed.

Would love a Redshirt Junior so we can get some continuity going

I'm betting Tuttle is headed to Harrisonburg. Honestly I'd love to see two so we can have a capable backup without banking on Atkins or Barnett making a huge leap in the off-season but that's probably asking a bit much. Hell, just having a capable backup at all is probably a taller task nowadays due to the portal and how late you can enter the portal.

Bryce Carpenter, McCall's backup, is very good, maybe better than McCall. He is certainly a better runner. He only threw one pass in the App game and it was a 31-yard touchdown strike.

The good news is our defense is going to bottle him up and force him to throw. The bad news is he is pretty good at that too, passing for 64% for his career, to date, 18 touchdowns, 5 picks.

McCall is a sissy. Our QB plays injured and you can barely see a drop off in play.

Yep, dude is fun to watch and it'll be interesting to see how he does as the main guy instead of his current role where defenses really heavily expect a run when he's in there... Might be able to get home from Norfolk in time to watch a decent amount of USM/Coastal on Saturday. Especially if ODU asks for the game to be shortened.

That sux for Coastal. Their offensive system is fun to watch with options on every play and McCall has been great in his career making the right decisions almost every single play. He has some physical talent for sure with his arm and with his legs, but the biggest talent is between his ears. Hardly ever makes mistakes and the offense hums with him at the QB.

I absolutely loved Carpenter's quote that was mentioned on a recent broadcast. Apparently, he had came into a game and told the ref something like: I'm not going to slide. So, don't blow the whistle. They made it into a T-shirt. Maybe not good advice, but fun football talk.

He threw only one pass, but that was a 31-yard touchdown strike, and he ran with ease against App's defense. He has a t-shirt that reads (paraphrasing), "Don't blow the whistle 'cause I ain't sliding!" LOL! Tough kid.

Seems to be replaced by these t-shirts:
