What kind of performance do you expect from LR vs. Arkansas Baptist?

Not getting my hopes up. And I’m sad to say that.

Can't find a line on the game. Can't find anything about AB.

My daughter goes to Lyon College and Arkansas Baptist beat them 73-72 Tuesday. It was played in LR. Lyon is a decent NAIA team so AB must be as well. Even a poor D1 team should beat a decent NAIA team by 20. Anything short of that will be another red flag on the season

Up 4 at the half. 15 or so turnovers. Pretty pitiful.

Got an 11 point victory in a game that was mostly closer than that. I didn’t see much to give me a lot of hope going forward. Sure an NAIA type team had nothing to lose, but you’d expect a D1 team that just got smoked in its opener to really want to show what it had. Wasn’t there.

A betting line is almost never given for D1 teams playing non D1 teams.

We looked pretty bad overall. I did see a ray of sunshine late. Chris Walker looked good hitting threes. John and Gordon looked they could be a pretty decent pair inside on the OVC level. We have a long way to go.

RE: Arkansas Baptist
Didn't really like the idea of having homecoming against a "nobody" in the season opener. Now I'm thinking it was a pretty good idea. It was nice to have a decent crowd, rather than a mostly empty arena at our first game. Getting the students involved, for an early November game, may be a good thing and get them "hooked" for the season. While the idea of getting LR students "hooked" is likely overly optimistic, it certainly can't hurt to get them to the first game. Same logic may apply to local alumni who came out last night. Main thing is that I like that our administration is willing to try "new" things since the "same old, same old" hasn't worked for quite a while.

Wins and a regularly competitive team is what puts fans in the seats. If we don't have that then the arena will be empty most of the time.

I agree. I don't expect big crowds this season except for the women's games. They prove it year in and year out. Why can't the men figure that out? Is it that hard?

I agree that "winning" is the only thing that will bring more Little Rock folks out to our games. My hope, and I know the administration's hope, is that we will win more regularly in the OVC than the Sun Belt. As I've said before, the vast majority of folks in Little Rock don't the difference between Southern Illinios and Southern Indiana. But they do know the difference between a W and an L.
