It’s easy to ignore and dismiss flat-earthers, 9/11 truthers, fake moon landing nuts, even Antifa, etc., because they constituted such tiny numbers.

But the white Christian nationalist stuff isn’t so fringe. Enough elected officials and voting public buy into this where it isn’t just your usual “bogeyman” you can laugh off. Things politicians have brazenly said in the past few years would’ve never been dared uttered just ten years ago.

Too many people believe extremism simply can’t happen here because of a belief that we have enough safeguards built into our system.

They're wrong, it's happening now and it doesn't do a slow, gradual buildup with polite warnings, once it hits critical mass? It's all over.
