Generic vote
Generic vote so far:
2022 R 51.8 D 46.2
2020 R 47.7 D 50.8
2018 R 44.8 D 53.4
2016 R 49.1 D 48.0
2014 R 51.2 D 45.5
2012 R 47.7 D 48.8
2010 R 51.7 D 44.9

Not everything is counted, but so far it is the best Republican vote % in many years. The Obama mid-terms were worse for the Democrats, but 3rd parties took more of the vote those years. Neither party had over 50% in 2012 or 2016.

RE: Generic vote
Republicans got $6,000,000 more votes in this election than in the 2018 midterms. Had 20 Senate seats to protect and only lost 1. May flip between 0-3 Dem seats. Dems have to protect 23 seats in 2024.

Waiting for our good friends on the left who support doing away with the Electoral College to post here that Congress should be apportioned based on the total generic vote nationwide. 03-banghead

RE: Generic vote
Definitely encouraging.

Helped there's still a lot of good people in OR & NY. They tried there.

Except they would've lost this time, so would've wanted to change the rules back.

This surprised me given their constant rhetoric about how gerrymandering was giving Republicans the majority. I thought they actually did usually win the generic vote, but it bounces back and forth like anything else.

Funny how Rs win the mid-terms but not the national elections, except for 2016 with one term Donnie won.

I find it odd with a +5 margin, how godawful the House races went.

Everyone seems to toot 'it was a bad map'. The map doesnt apply to House races. With a +5 generic at the end, and with the horrendously bad 'right track / wrong track' the Dems were staring at, the 'bad map' should make little to no difference.

Kind of a complete example of either political gross negligence or simple malfeasance I think I have ever seen.

A lot more uninformed voters vote at Presidential elections. This is why I hate the get out and vote campaigns. If you can't be bothered to know what is going on don't bother to vote. A lot of people died and suffered for our freedom and if you can't put forth the effort to follow what is going on with our elected leaders then don't vote.

That would be true for both sides and it is frustrating but there shall be no tests as they say. The midterms also do not get the some kind of coverage either
