Because Trump is the leader of the party. It is his candidates that won the primaries, much to the butthurt of the establishment and Mitch McConnell. Vance, Masters, Walker, Bolduc....Thats a short list of senate races that McConnell refused to put money into, instead pumping millions to help Murkowski get re-elected over another Trump candidate in Alaska.

Democrats put Trump on the ballot. Democrats ensured Trump's candidates won the primaries. And now they are hours away from having Trump's candidates, who McConnell said were amongst the worse candidates ever, pull off huge upsets in purple and blue states.

I can rest assured that it will not be something I want him to announce. This putz is not going away.

This is going to get really interesting. A pretty bad night for Trump, and complete and total domination by DeSantis. I always just assumed DeSantis would wait until 28, but that was such a resounding victory I don’t think he does.

Any talk of Donald Trump “going away” or a “stepping aside” is a total pipe dream. It’s gonna get ugly.

And did not do so well in the general. Winning the primaries isn't what matters. Winning the generals is what makes the difference. And you can't do anything if you don't win the general elections.

McConnell is about as worthless as tits on a boar hog.

When he announces he is running I hope the country collectively points and laughs.

I hope he announces that he'll just endorse whoever wins the GOP primary and moves on with his life. In a way, I hope he doesn't even endorse any candidate. His candidates failed last night. Time for the GOP to tell him to quietly move on. Overall, Trump did help expand the base and shift the demographics, for better or worse. That much can't be forgotten. But at the end of the day, the Tea Party/Trumpism/Christian Nationalism has lost.

I hope Trump runs, loses the Republican nomination and decides to run 3rd party. MAGA and America First Conservatives need to walk away from the Republican Party.

This is as fair a summation as can be put to last night’s results. I would only change the last (bolded) line to say that at the end of the day, the country has lost.

For Trump followers, how many times does this have to happen before you realize that the man’s one and only talent is to be dealt an unbeatable hand, only to find a way to to lose it?

We can rage about Mitch McConnell, about RINOs and NeoCons, or about the stupidity of Republicans generally. But at the end of the day the “red wave” was supposed to be about restoring the promise of 2016. It didn’t happen.

And it didn’t happen because yet again the orange idiot meddled with the political process for his own arrogant reasons, and not for the good of our country.

He’s either going to be the nominee, or he’s going do everything he can to tear down the eventual nominee so he can say “told you so”. There is no other realistic scenario.
