That way the place would look and feel more like there were fans there, instead of looking and feeling hollow and empty. Also saves labor cost in opening them -- cleaning up after whoever sits there, and closing them. I don't think you see it on tv. I don't have an issue with it. I would love it if the lower bowl were filled and they had to open it!

Or am I thinking of something different?

You do see it on TV, and people congragate to lower/central seats regardess.

Nevertheless, I do think this is the rationale. You see this in bigger stadiums with low attendance. The Coliseum in Oakland. BC Place in Vancouver. Lots of places.

It's impossible to completely hide on tv but you really only see it if you're looking for it.

And, like was mentioned, clean up is centralized to a smaller area. If you have a scattering of people all over, you have to at least check to see if there's anything to clean up everywhere as opposed to just the lower bowl.

Obviously, the best way to fix this is to have enough asses in seats to get the upper level open. The last time I saw it open was German's last game.

Atleast open the 2 main sides, maybe close off the "endzones".

This year when attendance drops to just a few hundred, they’ll probably close sections of the lower bowl and turn off the lights over those sections.

When I was at the UIS game, I felt like a dummy sitting in the stands. Maybe I should just sit there until the season ends and be one of the official NIU attendance dummies.

Please at least keep the sides pulled out. If we need to worry about the labor cost to clean these areas then we shouldn’t even have athletics at all!

Coitus did put up 31, which is not too bad.

31 on 12-29 from the field and 6-20 from behind the arc, can score but needs better shot selection.
