JC needs him in the backfield with Penny on all short yardage plays! Guy is a stud! LOVE the passive pressure. TK must have done a ZOOM defensive strategy series this summer and picked it up. Can't remember a game where we used it more than tonight. Hope there is more where that came from. I would say a good start for sure.
Yeah, I was thinking he needs to be next Brisker/Alexander football/basketball guy for Toledo.
Some guys just have a knack for being able to take the ball away from a guy off his dribble. I counted twice in about a 5 minute span where Cochran picked the guy clean off a dribble -and did it without coming close to a foul. The second one was a thing of beauty.
Moss and Cochran look like LB'ers.
Fact check = true.
Even if Cochran doesn't start, he will be in there getting starter minutes.
Ray J looks to have an A game who can play with just about anyone. That's a good thing. Coach K said he was playing at a high level. I think he is right. I thought he was good last year. Now with a year in the system.
Moss was announced as a G, or what I would consider the #2 spot last game. So Shumate and Milner will be the 4 & 5. That leaves the 3 - which I think will be Cochan going forward, even if he doesn't start.
So at 2, we have an outside linebacker, with QB instincts looking to pass before scoring, while upping his game over the summer to better ball handling, driving the lane, and looking for his teammates for easy buckets, kind of guy. He was playing the point late in the game, which I think makes sense (mop up minutes). He has the mentality to do so, but he needs better ball skills, which seemed like he has improved on. He did have some clunkers, which I think was because of his natural aggressiveness, and I like that. I also don't expect that to change much because that is a linebacker mentality.
Cochran is a middle linebacker. I haven't watched enough of him to come to a conclusion, but he sure seems to get with it, for lack of a better way to say it. I think we are going to like him.
If you can't be tall on the inside, you might as well beat them up trying to get there. The football look of our 2 & 3 guy is great IMO. I love it, and I'll go on record again thinking Moss has a huge upside. We shall see.
Add in AJ, Maddox, and the rest of the bench, I think we will at least, compete for the great reward. But we will see. IMO, we beat a bad team and then got sloppy, while getting people some playing time - which is a good thing. It certainly looks like we have more depth than in years past, but I don't expect them to go more than 8 with significant minutes.
AJ might be the wildcard. He put up some good numbers in proportion to minutes. I thought he looked pretty good. But he has lost so much playing time,. Depending on how he feels going forward might make a difference, and maybe not. I don't expect him to be Kareem, but he might be a great help. Even with limited minutes. I remember games where JT got in foul trouble and you have no bench. AJ looks pretty good in that situation.
I can't wait until Friday, and just so we know, ESPN+ is now 10 bucks. I will pay - have to.
