Kent State @ Northern Kentucky
The Golden Flashes open the 2022-2023 basketball season against the Norse of NKU. The game will played at historic Truist Arena. The Norse are off to a 2-0 start with wins of Tiffin and....wait for it...Transylvania University.

Last year's team was 20-12 and advanced to the Horizon League Championship game. NKU returns their three top scorers in Marques Warrick (6'2 guard), Trevon Falkner (6'4 guard) and Sam Vinson (6'5 guard).

Looks like KSU is going to have to bring their A Game.

GO FLASHES!

Despite the gaff on Kent website saying we only played them once before in 2000, it was actually Dec of 2020 and we beat them at home 92-73.
They are well coached and always a factor in Horizon
This game is on Bally Sports Ohio for those that get it.

Lets hear from the group on predictions for the season

I will start it off. 26-10 , Toledo wins regular season. Kent wins tourney .
#12 seed in NCAA.

They only beat Transylvania U because their star center Frank N. Stein was poached by a power program that offered up NIL $$$ and a 1st rate smoothie machine in the locker room.

Both exhibitions that don’t count against schedule.
KSU has been playing scrimmages rather than exhibitions
as coaches feel they are more productive. That theory about to be
Put to the test tonight

I'll say KSU will enter conference play at 6-5

Haut is still an assistant at N Kentucky. Wonder if it will be weird for him seeing Sendy and Christian on the opposite bench tonight.

Correct, there’s 12 listed right now with the 13th being in the Sun Bowl Invitational depending on who we play after New Mexico State.

Well, one of those games is against Baldwin Wallace and another is bound to be cancelled out of an abundance of caution.

Don’t blow kisses or throw up the three goggles. Play defense and get loose balls.

Lots of positives, but too may bad fouls and they need to work on their free throw shooting.

RE: Kent State @ Northern Kentucky
Encouraging start to the season. Struggled to keep them off the offensive glass in the first half but good defense and NKUs cold shooting meant it didn't cost us. Really liked how Hornbeak looked. Worth remembering in the limited minutes he played last year he got a lot of rebounds. Led the team at 12.7 rebounds per 40 minutes. If he can disrupt shots and rebound like he did tonight he could thrive in this lineup. Also encouraged with how VCD looked tonight.
